“Good Times=Best of Times”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2014

We had a wonderful food experience at Good Times, a "boutique" restaurant just outside of Hatillo in Arecibo. From the outside the restaurant looks ordinary; inside, it is a comfy and cozy interior that feels like "home". For a Friday night we and another couple were the only patrons, which gave me pause. However, after sitting down and making some decisions about the menu, we were pleasantly surprised at the selection -- and prices -- of food offerings. We started with basic appies -- hummus and pita -- which was a fine and easy beginning, accompanied by our drinks -- Medalla Light and a glass of chardonnay. We ordered the churrasco and a chicken dish with a side of the house mofongo. I must say, the chef's spin on mofongo was awesome. Lots of chunky and flavourful plantains with a lot of garlic and olive oil. The churrasco was cooked perfectly -- medium well and very tender with brilliant seasoning. Ditto the chicken, which was cooked in a lemon caper and garlic sauce. Very light and lovely. The portions were huge, however, and we probably could have split an order between us and still had left overs. Of course, since the food was fabulous, we asked for TO GO boxes -- for everything! (I was able to repurpose the mofongo and chicken for a frittata back at our beach rental and my husband was very happy to experience Good Times food once again!). Even more enjoyable was our ability to meet the chef / owner, Mike Mahon, a CIA trained chef from DC, who shared with us his story about his arriving in Puerto Rico and never leaving. What a terrific and talented young man ~~ we felt very lucky to have had a great dining experience and a friendly conversation as well. The biggest surprise to use was when the check arrived. We had appies; two entrees; and two drinks. With a tip we left the restaurant for under $56 USD! I actually felt guilty as we got in our car and realized what great food -- and great value -- we had at Good Times. We will definitely return many times over!

Great food and excellent service. Affordable prices.
We have visited this restaurant many times and have never been disappointed.
Appetizers are delicious, and so are the desserts.

“Wonderful food w/wide variety - between Camuy Caves and San Juan!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2014

We found this restaurant on tripadvisor, and weren't disappointed. Very nice hostess, great cooking, and cute place. The menu offered a variety of Puerto Rican dishes, but we ventured out into the gyros and chicken alfredo - both were amazing! Plus it was definitely affordable - pasta special was $7 and gyros are $8.50. Definitely something for everyone! Location was tricky though - it's a blue building on the corner of an intersection.

“Great food and service!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

We went to this restaurant for the first time and used a groupon. People treated us great. I had a churrasco and was great! Service was excellent, always checking us and filling up water. I've had the cheesecake and I love it. My husband had the flan and also like it.It's a quite place and was available without previous reservation. After that, we have eaten here several times and tried different things, always a great experience and delicious food.

“A Serendipitous Find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2013

We stumbled upon Mike's restaurant quite by accident. It was already after lunch and we (2 couples) were hungry but did not want to stop at a fast food or other chain. Well, we cannot believe the quality of the food we ate at Good Times. Each couple ordered a different Paella to share, and believe me the servings were more than adequate. Mike talked us through our options as we ordered, and his suggestion of Paella hit the spot. Best meal we had during our 2 week vacation in Puerto Rico and nearby islands.
