Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the service and signage are just "ok". Missed it the first time, no real menus but a sign up on the wall. Yellow building on the land (not ocean) side of the street. Good was AMAZING!! From entree to dessert and coffee, no complaints here! Would definitely return and recommend to family/friends.

“Excellent Neighborhood Restaurant”
Reviewed December 13, 2013

My husband and I have been looking for a good local restaurant in Arecibo and we believe we have found it. Kind of small, quaint looking on the outside and you may possibly pass it by if you are not paying attention. Once inside you are immediately greeted. Decor is simple and charming with a nice ocean breeze flowing throughout the place. They serve daily specials depending on the day of the week. The mofongo here is fresh and moist. They also serve excellent seafood plates. The customer service is out of this world! Very attentive staff, from waitress to owner. They go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and at your service, I guess that accounts for the big turnout especially around noon. Very reasonable prices for excellent food and warm, REAL people taking care of you. What else can I say, just stop in if ever in Arecibo.

“Adorable place, personal service”
Reviewed January 30, 2013 via mobile

This isn't a tourist restaurant. In fact, it's one of the few places I visited as a tourist in Puerto Rico where English wasn't spoken. But the food is delicious, the service is delivered with care. If you end up in the city of Arecibo, it is worth a stop.

“Cheap and very good food”
Reviewed August 11, 2011

This is a family owned restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner (althoug they close early around 6PM). The "El Farol" used to be owned by a Spanish-Cuban family that had a diner named "Pickin Chicken" there (now El Farol) and a restaurant then called El Farol. So the El Farol is familiar name for the last 40 years. It was a nice place to have Cuban and Spanish food. The place passed from family to others, the restaurant closed and then the diner caught the name of El Farol. Once I went for breakfast and it's OK but not great, they are better for lunch and dinner. For lunch they have a la carte or prepared food. Your best bet is going with the prepared food because they get very crowded and a la carte may take much longer. I avoid 12-1 because it's difficult to get parking. They make an outstanding churrasco and mofongo (smashed plantain) for about $15. Their service is very good and fast. I enjoy a lot calling for take out. I would go anytime here instead of Chillis.
