Sooo wished I'd read the other reviews first...unless you are a lighthouse collecting zealot, you are best to spend the $25 (for 2) on rum elsewhere. The 'museum' is a 2 room display of about 3 items. The lighthouse is not able to be climbed. The entire park is aimed (poorly) at children...apart from the view, there is nothing for adults.

Visited it with my family. The place is well maintained and beautiful. The views are breath taking. Nice swimming pool for the kids to enjoy. The have a restaurant on site for your convenience. The lighthouse is open and when you climb it you will have miles and miles of beautiful puertorican coast that are perfect for the best pictures of the island. Definitely a great place to spend some time with the family and loves ones!

Beautiful lighthouse w/zoo and additional attractions. Swimming pool for children, zoo for children and adults alike. Several pirate ships and pirate cave, which also has aquariums with living local underwater life. The lighthouse has maritime historical artifacts, and climb to upper level and look out to sea and along the coast for beautiful views. This is a pay to enter attraction, BUT a percentage of the cost can be applied to the Lighthouse Resturant at the enterance to the park.

The Arecibo Lighthouse and Historical Park is a museum/zoo/recreational park all in one. The fee is reasonable considering all you have to do once inside. For the most part, the Park details Puerto Rico's cultural history with lifesize recreations of Spanish ships, Taino villages, African huts and even a Pirate Cave walk-through. The park caters mostly to the younger crowd but this does not detract from its overall enjoyment. Being located in a city that was known for Pirate activity, the museum details this portion of Puerto Rico's history as well. The cave walk-through doubles as an aquarium and there's even a small zoo near the entrance to the park. The lighthouse itself contains a small museum of its own history. The view is amazing. There is even a small waterpark located there for a small additional fee. This is perhaps the closet thing to Disney in Puerto Rico. I definitely enjoyed myself without having children, but I'm sure this attractin can appeal to anyone.
