“Yummy food and drinks, beautiful setting, great service!”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

We had just hiked La cueva del indio and were looking for some tasty food and drinks. Others had recommended Salpicon and they were right. The "fish sticks" were perfectly cooked pieces of delicious fish without the excess breaking and oil you find at other places. The chillo entering (whole snapper) was so delicious. We had a few drinks with our meal and enjoyed them, too. Oh, I shouldn't neglect he view which is a beautiful bit of beach and wavy ocean, with a nestled, private feel. Finally, the service was gracious and attentive. Overall, we highly recommend Salpicon.

“Excellent food with Puerto Rican flavor and amazing view”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

If you're near the coast of Arecibo and hungry for some authentic Puerto Rican food, visit Salpicon; it isn't cheap roadside fare but it is delicious and worth the prices. Not to say that it is crazy expensive but there are definitely cheaper places to eat Mofongo and seafood; however, the ambiance plus the flavoring of the foods we had were delicious. The only reason I did not give it a 5 was because of our waiter - made us feel as if he was doing us a favor to serve us; however, it seemed to just be this one person because the hostess was very attentive and the other waiters seemed to be very responsive and pleasant...maybe he just had an off day??

“Best Mofongo Relleno's”
Reviewed June 25, 2013 via mobile

The atmosphere and view could be enhanced quite a bit. But the food was fresh and flavorful. We had a group of fifteen and most everyone ordered one of the various Mofongo Relleno's from the conch, to the shrimp, to the redfish snapper. The Mofongo Relleno's Redfish Snapper won hands down. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi and it was cooked to perfection. All dishes were served with tostanes (fried plantains) which we thought needed a chimichurri sauce to dip them. We also ordered the rice/red bean mixed side dish which was my family's favorite. We all split the Tres Leches and it was a big hit. As was the Puerto Rican coffee afterwards. Buy some coffee beans from Pueblo Market to take home. Puerto Rican coffee isn't available anywhere else since their isn't enough to export.

“Nice Seafront Place”
Reviewed April 21, 2013 via mobile

After accompanying my wife to the Premium Outlets in Barceloneta (west of San Juan), we decided to have lunch in the area. We found this place on road 681, west of Barceloneta, and were very pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. From the time we arrived, we were received warmly by a small wait staff that made lunch very enjoyable. They were courteous but not intrusive or overly chummy. We sat outside and had a great view of the Atlantic Ocean. Breezy and nice.

The food was very good. I had a fillet of Dorado al Ajillo (Mahi-Mahi with garlic), with vegetables and tostones. The fish was quite tasty and tender. The vegetables were bland, run of the mill of the frozen type and overcooked. The tostones were something else. They were perfect; crispy outside and tender inside. Freshly fried. They were so good, they immediately made me forget the veggies. My wife had a Mofongo con Pollo a la Criolla (mashed plantain with chicken and creolle sauce), which was also very good.

All in all, we had a very nice time a Salpicon and plan to come back again, probably when we come back to the Outlets.

“My experience”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

I visited this restaurant with high expectations, primarily fresh sea food. The service was good, very friendly and courteous personnel. The place casual but fine. The food dissapoint me, not what I was expecting from a sea food specialized restaurant.

They want to do it better and I'm sure that they are capable.
