There are no shortage of birds at Birds of Eden. It's a great place to get fairly close to birds that may be difficult to spot while on safari. There is a great diversity and number of birds on sight, where you'll be constantly taking photos. Expect to spend at least one hour here if not longer.

This place is a perfect example of how you should create a home for birds. They can live their lives with no restrictions like too small cages or not enough space to fly. Birds are in their natural habitat and we loved it! Go visit!

Arrived from knysna to find that the build up to the great "bird experince" I had promised the group
Turned out to be a total let down for me! And them of course!

Managers need to have a Plan B in place for when disaster strikes!

These tours are not cheap! and for us to expend both Diesel and tome for a non starter in t his electronic age is anathema!

Dear Topnotchted

Thank you for your review. I 100% understand your frustration and disappointment with the fact that Birds of Eden was closed on your arrival.

We did put it on all Social Media (Facebook and Twitter) and as soon as our Webmaster returns from holiday it should go on our website (which should be by the 9th of December). We do apologize that it is not on there yet. We have also contacted ALL tourism offices as well as those hotels, Bed and Breakfasts, Lodges and Guest Houses that send us guests often. We are in the process of contacting all the other places as well. Deon our Marketing Assistant on The Road has also been going to as many places as possible per day to personally inform Guest House (etc) owners of the TEMPORARY Closure of Birds of Eden.

I would however like to quell any rumors regarding our closure by telling you very honestly that our Closure is due to the heavy rains in the last couple of weeks that led to flood damage in the Sanctuary. The damaged compromised a section of the Boardwalk. Due to the fact that we currently have an "Official Construction Crew" on duty our Liability Insurance does not allow for clients to enter the Sanctuary.

Again I would like to apologize and please feel free to contact us directly on any of our advertised numbers for an update on our repairs and estimated date of re-opening.

Kindest Regards
Social Media Manager of SAASA

Great experience and I had lots of fun. Self-guided tour so you have no time limits and do not have to walk with a group of other people. It is advised to purchase a brochure of the all he birds species so that you know what you are looking at.
