“Wonderful”
Review of Elephant Sanctuary

Elephant Sanctuary
Reviewed June 25, 2013

We went here with friends and I must say what a lovely afternoon. The staff were amazing... The elephants were truly magical... We held their trunks and walked them through the forest. They told us everything there is to know about the elephants and where they came from and why they ended up in captivity.. We got to feed them at the end of the day and had a question and answer session with the girl who worked there who was a wonderfully knowledgeable and friendly girl.... Our guide was a Chelsea football fan as am I so I felt truly looked after.... Wonderful place, wonderful staff and WONDERFUL ELEPHANTS... Would go again on our return visit..... xx

OK, when they walk, we ran! It is amazing to see these so close, touch that skin, feeding them. Living in Namibia, we see them, but one never comes so close to these creatures. Special moments, special touches, walking with the elephants against a sunset in the forest surrounding us, following them "home" to their respective cages (the are really toooo nice to call cages) putting them to bed...that was very special. We were all very quiet afterwards, I thought of the elephant whisperer ...

We did the elephant walk with the trunk in your hand and we absolutely loved it! It was really quite a moment when you look behind you and see an elephant walking right next to you. We didn't feel comfortable riding the ellies hence we did the walk instead.

It's not particularly cheap but for the incredible experience it was worth every penny. It could be my favourite activity I have ever done on a holiday and I've experienced a lot!

This is ok but if you have got this far then go to Addo it is much better. This seems more like a compound than a sanctuary. Shame

We paid 1050 Rand for two adults, one child and the "experience" lasted 40 minutes. The elephants were amazing! But the staff was awfull, no passion for the elephants, just commercial thinking, which made us feel sad......
