We stayed here for 2 nights on our garden route tour we were a party of 15 people and everyone loved it. The place was in a fantastic place with beautiful views the chalet were excellent and spotless. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was very good the first morning breakfast on the terrace was fantastic but the second morning we had had a lot of rain so we ate inside. Would have liked to stayed longer. Would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Watch for the monkeys do not leave your door open.

We stayed at Hog Hollow for 4 nights - should have been 5 but BA caused us to miss our connecting flight. They did not charge us for the night we missed which was very kind. All the staff were really marvellous, helpful, kind and jolly. The hotel stands in the most beautiful surroundings with a delightful swimming pool which always seemed deserted. We rode in the mountains on good well schooled horses with great massages afterwards.
But and this is a big But, the interiors of the chalets and the main house need a huge injection of cash. My bedroom was so dark with brown walls and the lighting so bad that it was almost impossible to put your make up on so in the end I gave up. The bathroom reminded me of school and the main house where one eats in the evenings, again depressing dark brown.
Such a pity when this place has real potential.

Room Tip: Try and book the owners 3 bedroom chalet - much more modern - which they now let.

After reading all the reviews we were really looking forward to our four nights stay at Hogs Hollow.
The staff could not be more friendly or helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was superb and on the days we sat outside we enjoyed amazing views. Our only grumble is we thought out lodge No 12 was tired and rather gloomy. it did not live up to the photos. It was the end lodge, maybe the other lodges nearer to the main reception area were brighter. On our first night we sat on our own but on our last night (having eaten out the other two nights) we sat on the large table with other guests which we thoroughly enjoyed

Having read a review about Hog Hollow in a travel magazine was determined to seek it out on my recent visit to the Garden Route. Had to ask a couple of times to find narrow lane leading up to the hotel and then warmly greeted by staff and a glass of bubbly on the beautiful terrace. Coming from all the tourism along the Garden Route it was lovely to be enveloped in an African atmosphere
with the birdsong backdrop and beautiful view of trees and mountains. Room was good, but no air conditioning - can understand why but it didnt make for a very good night's sleep. The pool is lovely and it is certainly a very calm, peaceful place. Dinner was just one course from the set menu which was Ok but breakfast on the terrace with a glass of bubbly with the beautiful view was a great start to the day. Would certainly recommend Hog Hollow to anyone visiting the
Plettenberg area . Also really liked the fact that when we were due to leave found our car had been washed and cleaned ..nice touch.

We stayed for two nights following a number of recommendations. Situated down a small track the hotel is perched on a hill side which is covered in trees and plants. Plenty of parking is available. The main hotel is beautiful, offering a large outdoor but covered seating deck complete with central hanging fire. There are a number of lounges, a restaurant made from a variety of different rooms.

The swimming pool is situated down from the outdoor deck. There are toilet facilities, fridges with cool beers and soft drinks, a sauna and outdoor shower.

The bedrooms are dotted throughout the trees. It is very difficult to get any perspective of the place due to the sheer density of the plants. In one of the lounges there are some pictures of when the place was built however over the years the foliage has increase a little which increases the privacy.

Our room was large and well equipped. Bath, large shower, toilet and basin. Open fire, safe, fridge, kettle, mobile phone, music system with old style iPod dock. Very large bed with reading lights. The room also had a lounge area with sofa and chair looking over the tree covered hillside. Bi-folding doors opened onto a good sized wooden decking area.

A great room but sadly let down by the lack of air conditioning and no wifi (only available in reception / lounge)

The food was very good however you're asked to order your food prior to dinner which isn't a big deal but it does niggle me.

All in all a great hotel, a wonderful place to stay and relax. The rooms are great but the lack of air conditioning in the rooms and wifi just lets the place down for me.

Hope this helps
