Average hotel. Breakfast room was a dissappointment. Hardly any food and no spoons available, staff had a hard time finding any. Over priced for the area and quality.

The bar must be fairly low in High Prairie if this property is the #1 Hotel on trip advisor. Requested and received a non-smoking room....only problem is that the room had been smoked in and everything STUNK. Bed was just OK-- a little on the hard side. No ironing boards and irons in the rooms---they give you a small table top ironing board if you need to freshen up clothes during your stay. Very noisy ---you can hear people walking up and down the hallway and talking at early hours so don't plan on sleeping in. Oh ---to top everything off, I received a very early morning wake up call....that I didn't request!
If you have to stay in High Prairie this may be the best, but I hope not!!!

This was my second trip to High Prairie. I first took a gamble on the Pomeroy, but should have reconsidered when I was informed that Pomeroy had dropped the hotel from its chain and it was rebranded the Peavine. A bad stay there led me to try out the Days Inn for this trip.

Check in:
Staff informed me that my company credit card pre-authorization had not been forwarded to them. I showed the staff a copy of the email that was sent to them, but they refused to accept it. I offered to forward the email to them right there, but was told that the one staff member "[didn't] have email". A junior staff member that was on shift that night (March 8, 2013) was helpful and we ended up sorting it out.

Decor:
The place is used and abused. Entire pieces of the wall are missing. The breakfast room is more or less in an interrupted state of either repair or demolition. Everything in the lobby is old and worn out. Repairs in the room were completed with an absolute want of craftsmanship. The furnishings in the room were good, and the bed was comfortable.

Continental Breakfast:
The worst I've had. No protein offerings. I think Chris Brown practiced boxing on the fruit. Stale bread. Awful coffee.

Cleanliness:
Everything would have been forgiven had the breakfast been good and the room clean, but that was not the case. Hairs that definitely did not belong to me were everywhere in the tub and some were on the sheets. I did not want to touch the walls of the bathroom or shower. The toilet seat had not been cleaned, but someone tied a paper ribbon over it regardless. The room and lobby had an unusual odour that was off-putting.

Check-Out:
No bell is available to summon staff and no staff were present at or anywhere near the front desk. A friendly custodial staff went searching for the front desk staff, who showed up five minutes later.

Overall:
A frustrating experience checking in and out and the very bad breakfast and cleanliness makes me believe that, after two attempts, there is nowhere good to stay in High Prairie. If your work is flexible with your kilometres and travel time, you are much better off staying in Valleyview or Slave Lake... just tell them High Prairie is all booked up... I know I will.
