Stayed here for 2 nights in a Family Room. Before that, I read some slightly negative reviews of this hotel but I must say I did not experience anything negative about it at all. The staff were very helpful, very efficient, very service oriented. Our room was on level 14 and had a nice view, it was spacious with a very large bathroom and a big TV. Both beds were king sized beds if I'm not mistaken and felt very comfortable. Breakfast - there was no waiting time at all, we were able to get a table immediately. I would not say the choice of food was great but it was satisfactory. We enjoyed a relaxing swim in the hotel's indoor swimming pool. There is a cosy looking gym too but we did not have time to use that. The hotel is a bit of a walk to the night market but still manageable (about 15 minutes away). There are other eateries slightly nearer, about 10 minutes walk away and a 7-11 convenience store very near the hotel. Getting a taxi from here to Taipei is easy and would cost NT$ 600. Overall, a great stay.

While this may be the best hotel in "downtown" Keelung, it is not equivalent to most other Evergreen Hotels. It offers great views of the harbour and does have a nice pool and sauna area. The hotel is frequented by a lot of bus groups and therefore does not care about anyone else. It is likely why the breakfast buffet is so poor. No one is there longer than a day or two so they don't see the very limited selection and limited quantities.
However there are lots of other food locations within a short walking distance of the hotel, very good street vendors and restaurants, they will make your evening enjoyable.
The room was clean and comfortable. The fresh fruit in the room stopped after the second day but the street vendors and food markets had great selections of fresh fruit and really appreciated the business.

Room Tip: There is no way of knowing if you will be staying on the same floor as a large tour group.

This is by far the best hotel in Keelung. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Only 10 mins walking distance to the night market. Having been to the other Evergreen Hotels in Taiwan, I will say that this particular Evergreen does not have a nice buffet dinner or breakfast. First time I've ever been to this kind of hotel in Taiwan that did not have eggs for breakfast, other than hard boiled. Usually one expects nice sushi at these kinds of hotels for dinner in Taiwan; however, they offered a small plate that was usually empty after a few minutes. Their selection of food was VERY limited, compared to the other Evergreen hotels we've visited. The Japanese restaurant next door is better. Leave the hotel, take a left, and walk 30 seconds to find this restaurant. The gym needs an update - don't bother thinking about weights.

Room Tip: Harbor view is great, but the other mountain view is also super.

We booked a suite which we have too call and ask for because it is not listed on their website. The rooms looked dated. The carpets were stained. The sofas sagged. There is a very nice view of the harbor. The hotel is attached to another building with several restaurants. On days when there are banquets in these restaurants, the elevators get very crowded and the guests spill over into the hotel lobby. Also, this hotel used to be considered mainly for business guests but now it also caters to bus loads of tourists. In the morning, it is best to avoid the times when the tourists are having breakfast because it is chaotic, noisy and very unpleasant. The staff also look overwhelmed. Definitely not a peaceful place to rest.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floor with view of harbor. Rates are higher though.

A good hotel especially the rooms, with views from the harbour. Good pool but, other lousy 'local' guest tried to 'take' our towels. Great restaurant and obliging staff where we tried to initiate a fitness class.... after a first class meal. Do try it.

Room Tip: room with harbour view
