This is a beautiful park in Taipei on the site of the first park built during the Japanese Colonial period around 1900 and named the Taihoku New Park. After the Japanese left Taiwan, a group of protesters in 1947 were massacred at this park, and this memorial was built in their memory.
The park has a beautiful grounds area, a museum, pagoda and many other buildings, and monuments to help people learn about this tragedy. This is an excellent park to take a relaxing walk or to sit and enjoy the serenity in the middle of a busy and noisy Taipei.
