Went here for lunch and was not expecting such a tasty and authentic meal. Normally noodles don’t stand out but these were different think they were handmade and the broth super flavors and nice condiments in the soup too. I had beef in mine which made it even better so it was a great choice and not too from our hotel.

We read good review at TripAdvisor and decided to give it a try on our last day in Taipei. The stall is easy to locate near Ximen MRT about 10 mins walk. We were there early at 11am for lunch, hence the place was still quiet. We ordered two beef noodle soup, one with strictly beef and another is with more tendon. Both were so good and the beef was high quality meat that was so tender and moist. The soup was rich with herbal flavour and we enjoyed it so much. We added side dishes like cabbage pickle, braised peanuts with star spice and chicken feet with lime chilli. All the side dishes were equally delicious especially the chicken feet that gave good crunchy texture when chewing. It cost us NT$520 for what we had ordered. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Taipei!

We had done our research on beef noodles and Tao-Yuan beef noodles were one of the places to try. There is no menu and we were greeted with the question, spicy or not spicy. They just serve beef noodles, very good beef noodles, the beef is melt in the mouth but the broth wasn’t as flavourful as I would have expected hence the 4 rather than 5 star review. It’s still definitely worth a try.

Initially went to a more "famous" place but saw the lines and left. Kept walking further until we ended up at this place. We walked up these narrow stairs and got into the dining hall - clean and smelling of awesome food. We had no idea what to order so we obviously chose one bowl of beef noodles with regular broth, and a bowl of beef noodles with tomato broth. We also let the store suggest a few small sides. We were not disappointed. Both broths were phenomenal, the beef tender and juicy. It was so surprising how well the tomato broth turned out - no ketchup vibe here. It was complex, slightly acidic, slightly sweet, but not overpowering the beef flavor at all. Really delicious.

How good can it get?
The big cauldrons of hot and mild beef noodle soup is just about all they serve. From the time of entering this simple little noodle shop, the words "hung sao" will ring out from the serving staff over and over again, or for the rest of us, 'spicy.'
I've never had better beef noodle soup, and that includes looking for it elsewhere in other Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants. Not even close!
Go here and order the 'hung sao' and the only other dish they serve, a flavourful steamed rice dish with small tasty bits of pork and herbs ... and presto, amazing!
Can't go wrong here .. over and over again!
Hao, hao, hao chi!
