We saw many examples of carvings, pottery, writings and ceramics from the Ming and other dynasties. The museum is well laid out, easy to find your way around and has water available for you on most floors near the rest rooms.

Good presentation of natural history discovery in Taiwan and also temporary exhibition of Australian bark art.

Part of museum is closed for installation while some interactive medias are not function well. The renovation will be carried out until next year.

We came here on a Friday and it was just a quick stop out of the sun.
One whole floor is under renovation and the rest has some exhibitions from the early Japanese explorers.
In my humble opinion, If you only have time for one museum visit in Taipei, this is NOT the one.

They have different exhibitions at each level. Good if you are travelling with family, solo or with friends. Although there was construction at one of the exhibitions in one of the floors, the rest of it were still pretty good. I especially liked the ones about the animals.

True, this does not compete with the great natural museums in major cities. It is a small hidden gem of a museum in a 1915 Doric style building. Just coming to see the architecture is worth it. The entry is a whopping $30 NTD, or around $1 USD. The interior dome is impressive at 30 meters high. The exhibit areas look like they have the original wood floors. There are two main exhibits, one on insects and the other on micro organisms in the ocean. The insect exhibit almost looked like an art exhibit. The second floor was under renovation, but still worthwhile seeing because you have a view of the rotunda and the original marble floors. The basement is also under renovation. The top floor has exhibits on bio diversity and the indigenous population. All the exhibits are very well done. Don't expect a world class museum and you will be impressed with this small museum. And they have A/C! There is a small gift shop, but no eateries inside.
