This is a intimate place in the alley just inside of a big street in downtown TPE. Easy to find. It's cozy and romantic for date night. The wine service was very good and price NOT outrages. We had the Italian red and it was very good. The chef is from SoCal, that's where I grew up so we just told Bob to fix us something special. Chef's choice. Smart move, no fuss. Both the risotto and the beef was wonderful. Now I usually don't eat desert but hey, you only live once. The desert here was a good thing to have. All in all a fun and relaxing evening in busy Taipei.

This was my first visit to Merlot and I throughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. I chose the chef’s choice and it was amazing.
I started with a chilled white with the soup and salad and then switched to a Chilean red with my main course. Both we’re recommended by the staff and it was a great pair with the meal. I started with a mushroom truffle soup, then salad, followed by an amazing steak.
I would strongly recommend this place for a nice dinner out. There were several couples in and I think it was a great evening.

The place is small and cozy (better reserve in advance), good for relax with family, friends or date. Food is Italian bistro style with wonderful grade A steak. Not the fancy style, just very best ingredients perfectly paired together. The boss is in the kitchen that says a lot... The wine list is not so extensive but still well provided to match the dishes, the staff know how to pair and can recommend.

A casual intaliano/Cali wine bar with the nicest staff in taipei and food to die for. It may be Italian but don’t expect pizza, a mean risotto takes its place and for the carnivore a steak to die for.

After visiting this restaurant 3 years ago, we were eager to return and enjoyed another delicious dinner. We will go again before we leave. Great service too!
