Visited 3 years ago and really love their family room. This year, we tried it again and it didn't disappoint. True, the property is dated, but they were maintained at highest possible level. Further, there are more eatery/restaurant choices very near to hotel now, probably due to new hotels opening up nearby (or literally next to it).

Near to subway stations (5 min walk to Green line and 10 min walk to Blue line). Albeit there are time when a transfer to another line is required compared to staying near Taipei main station, but, what's the hurry, I am on holiday :)

Will choose this hotel whenever I can.

We stayed for 2 nights in January. The room was spacious and well maintained. The buffet breakfast was of good quality. In addition to the food on the table, they also offered a dish for each person from a specialty menu.

The reason for a 5-star rating was its initiatives. Staff at the front desk followed through every question / issue that we had. When we were waiting at the lobby for our limousine, they took the initiative to offer drinks to us, not to mention that they took our luggage to the car. The smile and friendliness were impressive.

Stayed for couple nights for work. Extremely disappointed...

Pluses:
- good breakfast selection. Poached egg as main course is just super tasty;
- house keeping team is great! Positive! Smiling. Professional. Kelly Chang specifically was super nice and help me to open my door when it didnt work. She was very nice and made my check-in negative impression better.
- location is ok. 5 mins walk to Songjiang Nanjing.
..... pretty much thats all.....

Minuses:
- it is old crappy hotel... super tacky... not well maintained....
- upon check-in asked to exchange Usd. Was rejected due to my bills were 'old' ( not new version). Though same week i stayed in 2 another hotels and did it without any problems.... left me with 0 cash on Sunday evening in Taipei;
- door cards didnt work. Had to go down to change....
- lights are creepy and badly organized. If u turn of bed or table light - automatically turned off all plugs.... so phone doesnt charge or computer. Woke up with almost 0 battery on my phone...
- curtains have to be always closed... 5 meters away opposite residential building.
- trip.com says it is 5* hotel???? Seriously.... i would give max 3+.....
- beds are not comfortable. Same as hard pillows....

In general very bad experience. Would not recommend. Stayed in many hotels in Taipei - this one is one of worst. Would recommend Sherwood instead. So much better and cheaper real old style 5*.....
