Owner description: Formosa Aboriginal Cultural Village has the largest outdoor museum in Taiwan dedicated to displaying the traditional homes and architecture of Taiwanese indigenous tribes. The nine villages are arrayed over an expansive section of hillside to give visitors a feel of what native Taiwanese villages looked like so many years ago. All buildings were reconstructed based on fieldwork research and blueprints drawn up by anthropologists in the 1930s and 40s.

This is one of my favorite places to visit in Taiwan. You can enjoy a boat ride take the roadway or drive or bike around the lake. Steal a smooch at one of the peers.

Very nice place to visit and get to know about Taiwan culture. But tour of all different tribes was bit long time for me. Rides in this park are crazy. UFO ride has very nice view over then mountain and city. Roller coaster ride is crazy and fun. Considering the entry ticket of $20 NZD this is very good place to spend one day.

The place is huge I can't finish the whole place in a day. What I love the most is the real-sized diorama of each aborigin tribes. It was very interesting to see their houses; the interior and the activities inside the house (real-sized figure), and even their chicken coop! They also provide some shows with the aborigins perform themselves. Must try the aborigin traditional cuisine: grilled boar. There is also a theme park with some rides, the most thrilling was UFO ride. Not a bad amusement park, but I love the aboriginal villages more.

When we went in July, there was barely any lines for some reason (it was a weekday but it was summer vacation)! We were able to get on all the rides without waiting at all. And yes, they had people running all the rides even though there wasn't a lot of people. Our favorite was the water slide-- this is no ordinary water slide. It was about half a mile long and my kids loved it. There is an area called Aladdin's Playground that is tailored towards younger kids as well.

The cultural aspects were also quite educational. They had huts that demonstrate the conditions in which the aborigines lived. There was a huge aboriginal dance demonstration in the front of the resort.

Highly recommend this place. One of my favorites in Taiwan and you shouldn't leave Taiwan without visiting this place.

If you are there just for the roller coasters and such, you may get a little underwhelmed. But if you are there to understand about the Aboriginal Cultures, you are in for a feast. This theme park did a good job of catering to all kinds of tourists. Life-sized models of the various types of housing, performances, hands-on activities like using a blow-pipe and shooting arrows, or if you are simply there to enjoy the beautiful landscaping and variety of flora and fauna. And just in case these are not your cup of tea, you can feed koi (they're humongous and pretty competitive) etc. Food-stops can be seen along the way.

The best way to get here is via ropeway. Make sure to get all the tickets you need at your own b&b which is way cheaper and hassle free. Don't forget to exchange your ticket for a queue ticket once you reach the ropeway station or you'll never get on. There is no need to stand in the queue as it is by queue number. Within the cultural village there is another ropeway. That is free, or if you prefer the shutle bus within, you can take that too.
