Second time to Taipei for business and glad I chose the W again. The hotel is still relatively new and it really shows. The staff is almost too friendly - greeting you everywhere you go and asking how they can help. Rooms are decent sized - especially for Taiwan and the bathrooms are GORGEOUS. Modern fixtures, rains showers, and electronic toilets that have more features than most cars do. Pool is nice - but both times felt a little awkward because it is right next to the nice restaurant and outside the lobby - and since there aren't many people swimming or lounging - you almost feel underdressed...
Only complaint is that as an SPG Gold member I am generally upgraded to bigger/better rooms when I travel internationally - on both occasions it didn't come up and when I asked I was only given the standard room that I had booked. Not a big problem since the rooms are so nice anyway.
Far and away my favorite part of the W is the gym - it is one of the largest, nicest and well-kept gym facilities I have seen at any hotels. Looks like a full-out health club and the staff is there to see if you need anything.

Spent a week at a conference. Really first class. Breakfast buffet superb. Friendly staff. Heated, all inclusive toilet! Bed = blissful Great room 2829.
On the down side: despite the rather expensive pricetag, the WIFI in the rooms (free in the lobby, restaurants etc) has an extra charge. That's tacky!!!

Room Tip: The number 8 is auspicous. Upper floors

i usually have problems with beds in hotels but not this one. I slept really well for many nights and I love the room deco. lobby/bar was funky and stylish. staff were great. all very young and enthusiastic.
and I loved the `whenever and whatever' atttitude...I told my butler at home to say and do the same.

First W chain hotel experienced and it was very positive.
Pros:
- great location: near the shopping district and just above the subway station
- great rooms: our Fabulous room was huge, clean, trendy, comfortable and nicely decorated (nice carpet and wooden furniture)
- great bathroom: shower was great, as well as the bath. Only tiny comment regards the height of the sink which I find too low (and I am a "petite")
- great service in general
Cons:
- LOUD music everywhere, including outside the hotel and in the lifts. You cannot really "rest" (except in your room)... I guess you just have to make a choice of a "party hotel" or a "calm hotel"
- The noise from the swimming pool/lounge area is going up until 15th floor... so better ask for a high located room if you want to be able to sleep during the weekend... unless your desire is to party and party and party => in that case, this is the place to be !

New, good location, great design and awesome atmosphere. I stayed in W for two days in the recent trip, and was quite happy to have chosen staying in this brilliant hotel. Located in the Xinyi district, it is within walking distance from the 101, shopping mall and Eslite bookstore. You can save a lot of time on commuting and could hang out in the vibrant area till very late. Yet traffic could turn really bad during the rush hour. And given the design of the road network, you could end up getting stuck 30 minutes in the car despite the hotel is just around the corner.

But it is all worth it. The hotel got some very cool design, signature to most of the W hotel across different continents. Though they might seem a little bit on the pretentious side, it is all fine, since you would be away when you get bored by their saturated colour and music. Check-in was fast, and staffs in the front desk were quite cheerful and helpful.

The hotel room is huge comparing to its peers in the same league, and sunlight is sufficient!! There are two layers of curtain, and you can adjust them easily by simply pressing the button and get the best exposure you want. Bathroom is big, and could give you full privacy with the two sliding doors. Though they could improve if there is some one-way locks for some more modest users.

The only complaint I have is that they have applied too much perfume in the floor lift lobby. That is just getting excessive. And one more thing is, the swimming pool is no place for modest people. It is apparently underutilized and there solely for winning the star.

Hi Heronimus,

We love how you mentioned the convenient transportation around the hotel. It is true that the hotel can be reached through all different kind of vehicles: the MRT Station right beneath our hotel, a bus center next to our building, not to mention the cheap taxi comparing to other cities that is always easy to catch. We are glad to know that you like our guest rooms, these rooms are designed for you to both relax and play while away from home. Hope we can meet you again, soon in W Taipei. We are always here welcoming you.

Warm Regards,
W Taipei
