Le me start with the positives.

1) You can't really beat the location. Just a 3min walk to Zhongshan Junior High School Station (Blue Line). From there, the vast metro system can take you, practically, anywhere you may need to go. Very central to most places.
2) Concierge staff, Kevin, was extremely helpful. Recommended good places for us to eat at. And helped us find out how to get to certain places we were unsure of getting to.

Now the negatives.

1) The rest of the front-of-house staff leave a lot more to be desired for. They are not bothered by your comings and goings. Seemed reluctant to help. On our last day, we were sent off with an, "Ok" after handing over our room key. Not even a goodbye.

2) Breakfast is something you should not pay extra for if it isn't included in the room price. The only saving grace was the toast (toasters are a pain to work, by the way)

3) The rooms aren't soundproof. Had to put up with furniture being dragged around, from the room above, late into the night and loud talking from outside our door.

4) There's only 1 lift, so be prepared to wait during high usage times. Breakfast is served on the 9th floor but the lift only serves up to level 8 (for those with difficulty with stairs).

5) The tumble dryer needs 2 cycles before majority of your clothes are dried. Some were still damp even after the 2nd cycle. Before anything, let it be known that my laundry load was about 3/4 full only. Again, laundry services are on the 9th floor.

6) The toilet/ bathroom glass wall is not frosted with only roller blinds blocking off full view into it from the room. But from certain angles, the inside is still visible.

The rooms are not as clean as the photos depict (stayed in room 709).
It was weird that the bathroom sink is on the right as soon as you walk in and there was a fluff of dirt in the middle of the room (which was then cleaned the next morning).
The room is of a decent size, daily housekeeping was done and water (bottles) were replenished. There is no cupboard space though.
Bathroom amenities were also replenished, however note that no conditioner nor body lotion was provided.

On day 3, I was shocked to find that they had provided a clean, though clearly worn-out, torn towel.

What annoyed me was the water dripping that my partner and I heard every night as we tried to sleep.

There is a tiny gym on the 9th floor however the treadmill does not work and the rest of the equipment look like they haven’t been touched or cleaned in a while.

My stay included breakfast but we did not have the breakfast.
Our stay for 7 days cost about NT$9000- area was ok but we probably wouldn’t stay again as we would see what else other hotels can offer for approximately the same price.

This hotel is located near Taipei city airport of Songshan. To reach the hotel, travel by Taoyuan MRT from Taoyuan International Airport Terminal 1 to Taipei Station, transfer to Taipei Metro Bannan Line (Taipei Station) to Zhongxiao Fuxing Station where you should transfer to Wenhu Line (Zhongxiao Fuxing Station). Turn to the right, walk for one minute and cross the traffic lights on Fuxing North Road. Then turn to the left and walk for one minute to reach Regal Hotel. The room is similar to Holiday Inn Express Hong Kong Soho. Shaver and toiletries are available for room use but there is no water heater and no connection to WiFi. To travel to Songshan Airport Station, cross the road outside, reverse and walk towards Zhongshan Guozhong Station to board the Metro.

Room tip: Top floor for city view.

Simple basic hotel. Interior looks tired and dated. The dim lighting makes it worse. Cleanliness ok. Guestroom door is still using metal key to lock/unlock.
Main positive point: convenient location, near to subway station.
