The mingsu is on the pricier side but it was worth it. Disadvantage: To get there, you have to go through a flight of long and steep stairs. The good news: The guestroom is very clean and has a spacious living area (we booked family room for 4). We even get to see sunset from our room. Breakfast: Ham and cheese sandwiches - simple and tasty, Breakfast area also has a breathtaking view.. the mingsu is also easily accessible to the main old street and tea house. I would recommed this mingsu for someone who is willing to spend a bit more to enjoy. Not suitable for eldery with weak legs.

We stayed at Windsor B&B - ReGuangHanGuan, which is an accommodation operated by the same family but a little further in from HanGuan. We rented a duplex for a night - the ground floor is a sitting area with water dispenser, sofa and a wide window offering spectacular view of the harbour. The upper floor consisted of a queen size bed on a platform facing an even wider window to the same view and a bathroom. Our only minor gripe would be the somewhat steep staircase.

The accommodation offers breakfast at HanGuan, which boast a patio overlooking the town and harbour. The hosts were especially warm and hospitable. They can also help to transport your luggage on scooter.

We definitely recommend this place and will stay here again.

This is probably one of the best view you can get at a self operated hotel and most room has a nice balcony facing the mountain down view. The hotel is not that new and that is probably the only thing you can complain about, otherwise, its located well in the Jiu Feng Old Street with easy access to the stores and food all around the clock till 2am at night. But it does start early morning again. It is a short walk to the 7-11 or family convenient store and you also get a 5* fantastic breakfast anyway. Its served at the balcony of the office and that is some view for a breakfast.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, I arrived with lots of luggage although warned about it but because I was travelling across Taiwan, I have no choice. They came down to pick up our luggage by motobikes and we only need to walk ourselves up to the hotel. The street was so narrow no other transport was possible and we were glad we did not have to pull our luggage through the huge rain when we arrived. On the day we left, they too help us bring our luggage down to the waiting point and my transport driver was late for almost 1 hour and their staff actually waited with us although we told them they did not have to. That is SERVICE.

Cozy room, my girl loves it so much. Breakfast was simple but taste good, at least my girl finished the whole plate and got her drinks refilled 3 times during that rainy cold morning. We were lost during our first attempt to allocate the breakfast lobby under the rain, but in the end we got it too! This is the only point that we felt not comfortable with, the breakfast seems even more far during rainy and cold morning.

Room tip: Room 4 will be ideal for 4 adults.

very long walk from the entrance of the temple, totally unexpected when it's dark, rainy and having a family of 8 pax with kids and elderly and 8 luggages. They helped to bring up the luggages in scooter but we hand carried all the fruits and pineapple pastry. The moment we got in to the recept, we were 'welcome' by this unfriendly chap that just distributed the map to us and rushed through how to find our way in jiufen. Worst moment came when he told us that we have to climb more stairs to our pavilion n we have to carry our own luggage. Upon entering the 'house', it looks half size smaller than the picture n only one toilet n shower for 8 pax.

Will never be back n will not recommend.

Room tip: Distance from temple
