We went all the way to Wuling, the highest automobile pass in Taiwan. Seeing that my friends and I are all young adults, our local guide took us hiking up the mountains! We were totally unprepared for this, but the views from the top is amazing... it was cooling and hot (UV rays are probably stronger too), so you might want to confirm this activity with your guide before you start your day.
Despite waking at 3.30am and battling the freezing cold weather of 5degree...the beautiful scenic sight of the sunrise is worth all the hassle
Wow, our driver dropped us off at one point to climb up the mountain. It was a long slow walk up. Initially, wasn't certain if I could make it to the top. It was cold, as I went up and up, oh man it was hot! Haa! Thr scenery was very breath-taking at top among the sky, clouds and mountains. Will never forget my experience there.
Taiwan has many parks & gardens, styled very artificially in Italian/French etc manner to cater to wedding guests, for their wedding photos, and dinner, even. So it’s either u like them, or the trip up here can be a total waste of time.
Personally, I kind of liked it. Fresh air for one. And I must say they upkeep the attractions here well. Mainly three of them - cingjing farm, little Swiss garden and 纸箱王. First 2 are mainly gardens, with added “foreign” elements. 😂 Last one, can’t find the English name, but suffice to say they make everything from cardboard! Restaurants tables and chairs, and even a train ride in the compound!!! Quite fun if you have kids traveling with you.

Love the mountains in Taipei especially hehuanshan! Went for a sunrise tour and it was extremely freezing but it was absolutely worth it! Bring hand warmers and thick jacket!! Really love the fresh air up there and it was so beautiful at every turn, every angle. Great trip up and down!
