Spend long journey for a hill not even a mountain.
Nothing special.
Time is better spend else where!

It's more of a very small hill rather than a mountain.

The best thing about being there is in your photos it will look like a snowy mountain, which if you go in the middle of summer is a kind of fun thing.

There are food vendors outside, a shop selling local Taiwanese products, and a small museum and activities area

Tainan is not short of interesting places, so this one is better skipped – unless you fancy climbing up a dirty black hill of salt…

Made the hour long journey from the Tainan city centre to Cigu Salt Mountain, a man made mountain left behind by Operators of a salt factory. The reason for the visit was more out of intrigue but in hindsight, I should have visited one of those places where they mined salt instead.

While the salt mountain is a sight to behold, it's good for about a half hour visit as there isn't much around there. Those developing the place tries to make this place into somewhat an entertainment destination however the lack of attractions meant that this place loses some of its appeal to the audience who have never seen a salt mountain before.

How many people can actually say they have climbed up a mountain made of salt before? That should decide if you really wish to make the hour long trip to see this place. My trip was made interesting only by a wonderful and entertaining companion.

We came here in July, very hot. Kids not willing to walk and see. Better to come in autum or winter, so visitors may enjoy and willing to walk around.
