I just came back from my trip to taiwan from 2 to 8 December 2007 and i must say i had a wonderful time there. One of my unforgetable attraction is the Chigu salt Mountain. To get there, you will have to go on a bus tour as the location is situated far away from the town area(about 3 hrs from taidung) This mountain is made up of salt and water and tourists are allowed to climb it with handrails provided so it wont be dangerous. From the summit of the mountain, you will have a spectacular view of the surroundings and it can be very windy from up there. Next to it lies a smaller mountain and people can climb it too. In this mountain, people can pick up the salt and throw it around. As for me, i took a few pieces of compressed salt back home to remember this place.
Do's:
Visit it from December to March as it would be much cooler.
Bring along your camera to snap those mountains.
Bring along winter clothings if you are going there during december.
Don'ts:
Go there on your own.
