This market was amazing. Tainan is known for good food and this market did not disappoint. My wife and I were amazed at the huge selection of good Chinese food.
Luckily we are seasoned travellers and we were happy for our hosts to pick out many different dishes for us to try, and we enjoyed all of them.
Not only is the food great, but the colour and splendour of all the people eating and socializing together in this huge market was a sight to see and enjoy.

Night market is one of the main culture of Taiwan, and I've been to Garden Night Market which has been one of the biggest in Taiwan, recently there're 2 new night market open which is much bigger. I can said night market is fun that gathering many different kind of traditional and interesting food and snack in one location, but you need to get use to very crowded, so we spend only 1.5 hours and back to hotel.

I think its called Flowers Night Market but literal translation is Garden Night Market.

Open only 3 days a week - Thurs, Sat and Sunday. We were lucky to be there on a Sunday night, it was extremely crowded but worth the experience just to soak in the carnival like atmosphere.

It is huge, I mean really huge with not only loads to eat, but games to play and stuffs to buy. Is definitely much better than Shilin.

The food here are quite good, and lots of choices - from the usual onion pancake and mi sua (rice noodles) to fried insects! The variety of food here are different from the night markets in Taipei.

Do drop by in you are in the city!

Garden Night Market in Tainan seems to be one of the more underrated night markets in Taiwan, with Shilin Night Market in Taipei taking the lion's share of many tourists' attention. It is fully outdoor and is really huge for a night market, as the carts are mobile. Don't bother going anywhere else in Tainan to take your dinner, THIS is definitely the place to fill your stomach. With so many different variety of foods like the milkshakes, meat skewers and even Mongolian-style food, it would be best to take it easy and perhaps order one of each type of food so that you can try the all. If food's not enough, there's still plenty of clothing stalls to go around. There's also a few game stalls where you can shoot BB guns at balloons for fun to win some prizes.

We spent at least 2 to 3 hours in the night market given its huge size, and it can get very crowded after 7.30pm such that you can only walk with the flow of the crowd. There's a taxi stand outside the night market for you to get a taxi easily once you're done with the night market. Do take note that the night market is only open on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and it also may not open if the weather rains so do plan accordingly. Comes highly recommended.
