We are 4 adults and 1 child and we spent 2 nights in 2 rooms here. We could have stayed a month! Used to a busy city lifestyle, these 2 nights at 初见 slowed down our paces and allowed us to breathe in the peaceful countryside home. The owners were always present yet gave you enough privacy. Breakfasts were Top notch, made with the freshest ingredients and served beautifully. We enjoyed the daily chilling out sessions in the yard/garden where you had mountain views. The rooms were more than enough and little snacks were provided. We couldn't wait to go back everyday. Even our driver guide who was driving us around for the 5 days mentioned it's one of the best bnbs he has came across. Would definitely be back!

Phoebe contacted me even before we start our stay to make sure we make best use of our time in Hualien, helped us to arrange for our transportation to Taroko National Park, and gave us tips/ suggestions on arrival. The hostel was absolutely beautiful, we were upgraded to room 初見 and were welcomed by fresh fruits, cakes and tea upon our arrival. Phoebe and Vincent are so welcoming that I feel like I am at home. Breakfasts are perfectly delicious and Phoebe is so nice to help us prepare our breakfast as early as 6am in the morning on our departure day and 7am on our day trip visit to Taroko, she even prepare water and snacks for our hike and make us ginger tea at night after we return from dinner!!! Words cannot express how much we appreciated everything they did for us and this is the most valuable experience I have had in this trip. You will not get this kind of experience if you stay in a hotel and that is definitely not a miss! I will definitely visit Hualien again and stay with La meme Histoire!!!

Room tip: Highly recommend room 初見

My husband and I are no strangers to Hualien & its picture perfect mountain and sea scenery. What we didn't expect is an exceptional stay at La Meme Histoire Hualien. We read the reviews from fellow Singaporean travellers on trip advisor and decided on it. Thinking what made them rave so much about it.

Phoebe, is a host and a friend, it's quite a challenge to help us arrange for 2 days itiernary in Hualien because we have been to most places but she still managed to help us planned a new discovery & experience. Going the extra mile to make sure that we get the true Hualien experience.

The weather was rainy when we were there but what didn't dampened our mood is the very pampering stay. Our breakfast and tea snacks (they are not just any ordinary snacks, they fuel your tummy) are exceptional. Knowing how we don't get the best and freshest fruits back home, Phoebe got us a giant custard apple for tea, preserved mini pear and the rosella juice fresh from her backyard.

It's true that her cooking skill is superb. I even asked Vincent (Phoebe's husband) if she learnt it from anyone. Nope. She picked it up from watching Kdrama. 😊

We stayed in a very spacious & comfy penthouse room! It feels like childhood all over again. It's suitable for family with kids or couple like us who love details. During our stay, we even get to interacted with a Taipei tourist, talking abt Taiwan & Singapore. A diff exp for us.

We were too well cared and pampered (laundry and food included) till our trip back to Taipei became so sad! We missed our two friends and their cat, Meatball.

I'll return with my family to La Meme Histoire!

My gratitude go to Phoebe and Vincent who had made our 3-night stay a very memorable one! I believe all the reviewers would have applauded the quality of the home-cooked breakfast n afternoon tea that Phoebe made from scratch. I felt even more grateful due to the fact that she prepared vegan meal for me!!!👍👍👍 She also helped to engage the service of 陳宏羽先生 who drove us to places of interest. We could feel that she put in her heart ❤️ to serve the 'customers'. I recommend this homestay place to all without reservation. - Emily

I spent 3 nights at this beautiful homestay managed by Phoebe and Vincent and my experience was nothing short of excellent.

The Room: I was travelling at low season, and Phoebe graciously offered a room upgrade at no extra cost. The room we stayed in was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and well-maintained (I also loved the high ceiling). The king-sized bed and sheets were so comfortable that it was difficult to wake up every morning! The bathroom was a good size and snacks were provided beside the TV - such a nice gesture from the hosts!

The Hospitality: I cannot even begin to explain how blessed we felt to be hosted by Phoebe and Vincent, who have far exceeded our expectations. Phoebe was super helpful with booking our train tickets from Taipei to Hualien, and upon knowing that I was arriving with big luggage she offered to pick me up from the station to her home just out of sheer kindness. And whenever we were out for the day, I would receive messages from her, checking on our safety and reminding us to be careful on the roads. Also, while we assumed that we would be missing the daily Afternoon Tea (because we were out for the whole day), we always came home to fruits and light snacks saved for us. Finally, Phoebe washed some of our clothes for us after realising we were washing them in her bathroom - what more can you ask for from a host?!

The Breakfast: We woke up to the most amazing breakfast every morning, carefully prepared by Phoebe, who is an excellent cook. A different kind of cuisine is served every morning, so I would recommend you stay at least 3 nights to sample as much as you can! I have to add that, after Phoebe and Vincent knew who my favourite singer was, I came downstairs for breakfast to find that they were playing his music for me, LOL!!! They are such attentive and sweet people, and making conversation with them every morning made breakfast so much more enjoyable.

The Location: While the homestay may not be located in the heart of Hualien City (it is about 10-15 minutes drive from the train station), you can hire a guide/driver for the day, or rent a scooter if you prefer to be more independent. Why would you want to stay close to the city in Hualien anyway?!

Thank you Phoebe and Vincent (and Meatball the cat!) for the flawless hospitality, we had such great memories at your homestay and were missing it terribly the moment we left. You were not just hosts to us, you treated us like your family and we are very blessed to have met you. We look forward to returning again sometime. :)

Room tip: Select the "Chu Jian" room if you prefer to have more space
