Lovely hotel conveniently situated with excellent staff and service and the breakfast is superb. Very convenient to walk to 24 Hr convenience stores or other shops with a lot of great noodle and dumpling shops close at hand for eating in the evening. Or you can try the hotel restaurants who serve great food but I prefer to "eat local". If you feel like a few beers or even a bottle of whisky then just across the road is a great bar called the Pumpkin Bar (if you can't read Chinese characters then look for the pumpkin pictures). Buy a bottle and keep it there until your next trip (it will still be there after a year) and even though it is small it is friendly and the boss speaks quite good English. Okay back to the hotel, for some "nice" reason I was upgraded to a suite which had a kitchen, lounge and two bedrooms with a very nice bathroom and the air-con was controllable to a very nice temperature and the bed was really comfortable. The staff are very knowledgeable about the local area and can make great decisions on where you should go based on your individual preferences. Hsinchu itself, however, does not have much to do if you are not there on business but overall I had a great time and highly recommend this hotel.

We had stayed in Sol Hotel Hsinchu for 4 nights. The room was great, spacious and clean. We can reach the SOGO Department Store and Hsinchu station in 5-7 minutes. There are many food-stores and beverages kiosks such as Coco, Lohas and Come Buy. Starbuck coffee shop was located just across the SOGO. For those of you who love to (window) shopping, this is the place!! You loved reading? there is Eslite bookstore just within 3 minute-walking from SOGO. I recommend this hotel if you want to explore Hsinchu.

I spent one night here on business recommended by the company I was visiting. The hotel was great staff very attentive they couldn't do any more to help. The room was large, bed comfortable and had wi-fi.

I ate in the italian restaurant adjacent to the hotel and had a decent meal and the buffet breakfast was of good quality.

Overall would recommend this hotel to anyone if you are visiting Hsinchu city, very pleasant stay.

I spent a number of nights here for a business trip.

The hotel is quite excellent but the location is on a back street in Hsinchu.

The lobby is modern and clean, the front desk staff were bilingual and were very attentive and helpful. The decor is modern with very nice wood paneling.

The hotel room was clean and attractive, with a really nice stone shower as well as a separate tub, a TV with both Chinese and English stations (including CNN, Discovery, etc.). The desk had wired ethernet and wifi is also strong and works well. The bed is quite firm with crisp white sheets and flatter, denser pillows that I quite liked. There is a single (down?) comforter with no separate top sheet. Sleep quality was excellent.

There is an Orient-style electronic toilet seat with a large variety of controls (with instructions printed in Japanese). It's quite entertaining to try out the various "functions" at random to see what happens!

The hotel had complimentary breakfast with an outstanding selection of Eastern and Western dishes, including a large variety of hot food. Pretty much anything you could think of was there - from dumplings, cooked chicken, salad, vegetables, bacon, cooked eggs/omelettes, pastries, cereals, and three kinds of juices - the orange juice was excellent and tasted fresh squeezed.

The hotel doesn't look like a lot from the outside, but the standard of cleanliness and decor inside is outstanding. This is an excellent place to stay should you be in Hsinchu.

Room Tip: Rooms toward the front of the building face a kids school. In the morning you can hear the kids singing their morning songs.
