Very large selection of food stalls with all types of food. Odd smells here and there but that's what night markets are all about

We visited Shuanglian Market on a Saturday, from about 10:30am to about 12:00pm and found the atmosphere still alive with locals shopping for groceries and cooked food. As we had no means to cook or heat food in our hotel room, we decided to purchase only that which we could consume without cooking or heating.

The market had an amazing variety of fruit and vegetables. We purchased freshly squeezed carrot juice for NT$80.00 for one litre. There were many other vendors selling deferent types of freshly squeezed juices for about the same price.

You could purchase freshly cooked meats, chopped into edible pieces and boxed for very reasonable prices. The market sold cooked meats, and fresh meat, fish, seafood etc. There was a vendor selling sushi pre-boxed or unboxed so that you can choose your own mix. There were vendors selling pre-packaged fresh soup mixes; and vendors selling soup to eat at the market. We saw many locals purchasing their lunches for the day from this market. One of the most popular stalls was the freshly made, unfried, large spring rolls.

The most important aspect of this market was its vendors and the people shopping there. We found the locals to be very approachable, friendly and helpful. It is easy to get to, and well worth a visit if visiting Taipei.

Spent a great couple of hours wandering through the stalls and sitting "people watching " on a hot Sunday morning. Certainly not a tourist market, so full of lical colour. Well worth a visit.

The stop is Shuanglian Market. This is where all the locals go and shop for their food in the morning. It is very interesting to walk along and check out all the local fish, vegetables and other strange food items that are local to Taiwan. Very often you see nice lovely big bananas in the supermarket but the local bananas at the Shuanglian market is very small but they are so sweet!! Very thin skin but bananas that are so sweet and full of flavour. I also found some local mandarins - skin looked blemish and a bag of these was very cheap. But WOW they were so cheap! It is a very interesting walk as you see many local snacks and food items. Dont miss the chance of observing a local morning market!!

I love this morning market. It’s so lively and there’s so much to see and buy. They sell all sorts of things from raincoats, umbrellas, clothings, fancy hats, gloves, inner wears, home wares, kitchen wares, fruits and nuts, meat and seafood, roasted chestnuts, steamed corns, local cakes ... basically a wide variety of things, and at reasonable price too.

I enjoyed walking along this 200 metre stretch market just soaking into the atmosphere, munching into my corn cob and roasted chestnuts. The things sold here are different from shop to shop, unlike those you see at whole sale markets like Wu Fen Pu, and I’m pretty sure you’ll find something local that you’d like here.

We came back the next morning and found that some of the shops were different from the previous day we were there. Good place to visit if you like to see the locals going about their daily shopping.
