You can really smell the sulfur. We were here on a colder day with low cloud cover. The trail from the parking lot is short and worth the walk. You'll quickly see the yellow sulfur on the mountain side from the sulfur steam releases at various places. There are several hot water little streams along the walk way along with small steam releases, too.

BOTTOM LINE: Worth your visit to see. I wish we were here on a clearer day to see even more views both up higher and to the valley below. We enjoyed our short stop of about an hour here. MY RATING: 8/10.

We were visiting the Yang Ming Shan earlier and shortly after our visit there, our driver guide brought us here for a quick visit.

The first sight reminded us of the one we saw in Bandung, Indonesia and Japan except that this was a much smaller scale volcano, but at least now we know that there is one in Taiwan!

Would say the surrounding scenery was scenic and nice and very cooling and refreshing as strong winds blew from all direction. For us, it was great as the sun was just above our heads and felt so warm earlier.

As we walked further in, we came by the volcano site, with steam gushing out from the ground, steamingly hot. It's quite magnificent despite of the small scale. But do be careful when walking, especially walking of the flight of steps to go higher as more steam were gushing out from the ground along the path. Of course, the smell of sulphur was strong too.

There was a visitor's center and a small gift shop there, besides the washrooms.

Would say we love the scenery here and the cooling wind and a good eye opening experience visiting here!

I’m so surprised to learn that Taiwan has a such great volcano like spit. Strong sulfur smell with gas whistling sound plus some muddy gas outlets. It reminds me a lot of Hokkaido’s Hell Valley despite this is a much smaller scale.
It’s my first visit ever and I surely will return in th3 future.

It's very foggy when we visited and couldn't get to see the full view. There's are some parts along the trail that's having steam coming out thus have to be more careful while walking along the trail. It's rather cold when there's wind. Bring along a jacket.

The scenic trail can be reached by turning right on the Xiaoguanyin stop on Yangjin Highway. It is approx 805 meters above sea level and is famed for the fumaroles, sulfur crystals, hot springs and spectacular 'landslide terrain' formed by post-volcanic activity.
