I stopped over at this hotel with some friends in April 2013.
It is a good little hotel just on the outskirts of the busy border town of Aura.
We got there at lunch time and even though there was an extensive menu, we opted for the Buffet that was set up.
The choice was very good, with a very large spread laid on and it was only 20,000/- UGX (approx'8 US Dollars) per person which included 1 soft drink or a bottle of water.
The hotel is well kept and the gardens are nice and green with lots of fish in the ponds. The swimming pool looked nice and inviting, but wewe were to pushed for time, so maybe next time.
If you are inthe Aura area and need to escape the hassle and bustle of town, then i recommend country the White Castle Hotel.

Decent hotel with nice pool. Frequented by muzungu's. Restaurant service is slow but food is acceptable with huge menu including Indian food, pizza, burgers and more. One of the better properties in this area

I visited Arua this time during the very Hot and dry season. It was a great comfort to come back 'home' to the White Castle after a Hot, Dry and tiring day. Its green surrounding gives a good feel of the wild. The drive from town is not much fun, as it seems like every body must walk, ride and drive in the middle of the road. You must be a very skilful and patient driver to drive to and from town.
Back to the hotel, the rooms nearer the gardens are more peaceful, further away from generator and traffic noise. The Rooms though not big, are self contained, Hot shower, furnished with a reading table, an open wardrobe, an African chair, a fan and two extra chairs and a stool at the verandah.

Fairly good food for both local and international guests, a swimming pool and a mini bar are a delight. Wifi can be found around the reception, dining and pool area, but carry a modem for you room. These can be bought locally at a reasonable price. I used my orange internet modem, that worked very well.

The green beautiful garden below the rooms and a children's playground are benefit for both adult and children. The women and children particularly love the swings!

The staff are a great team; make it a more homely place. Though a little more costly than other hotels in the area, The White Castle is generally a homely and great place to stay, especially for those on long term trips. You will get value for your money.

Room Tip: I always love to stay in the round shaped nearer to the playground and garden. They are further from the dining area, but quiet and quite peaceful.

I stayed here for 3 nights in February of 2013. The resort was excellent! The rooms were nothing special. No air conditioning and it was $75 per night. (On our last day we found a newer, cheaper, and air conditioned hotel which had just opened nearby, and all of our future stays will be there.) The dining was great with the exception of the long wait. It was an hour wait for every meal. You could order a pizza, go back to your room and shower, and still get back to your table before the food came out of the kitchen. The continental breakfast was excellent, but the coffee was the worst I've ever tasted. We did get a great price on a buffet-style private lunch for 15 people. The staff was extremely accommodating and helpful.

Room Tip: The single rooms near the front can hear road traffic and are directly behind the entry gate. Kind of noisy. It doesn't matter if you get 2 single rooms or one double occupancy room, the cost is the same but the double occupancy are further from the gate.

For those who have been in South Sudan and stayed in endless prefab and container hotels at double the price this place is an oasis when returning to Uganda. It is a nice place to stay but clearly not within star ranges as normal hotel goes thus for the average tourist it would be roughing it out :-) For people in the humanitarian work ranks it would be considered a nice place. The staff is friendly and for food the indian kitchen is the way to go. Eating by the pool at night is a relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are ok with TV and fan but some of the houses can get a bit noisy when the neighbour or cleaners walk in the corridor. I guess the surroundings are so quiet you will notice such. It is a bit isolated from town thus once a driver drops you at the place, you are effectively stuck. But if needing a stopover in Arua then this is the place to be. Since there are not many rooms booking in advance is highly recommended.

Dear Customer,
Thanks for staying in our hotel last September. It was good of us to know that you enjoyed our service during your stay from our friendlier team and also the Indian cuisine we promise to keep.
We also feel sorry for the noise you experienced from the Neighbours plus our cleaners i guess it was beyond 10am for the case of the cleaners. On your next visit do not hesitate to utilize our courtesy hotel van at a reasonable cost in case you have to do town running.
We look forward to host you more often.
Nelson Kasooba
General Manager.
