“The only thing going for this place is the view- THATS IT - TERRIBLE!”
Reviewed January 11, 2014

Although the pictures look quiet nice, don’t be deceived, the view is literally the ONLY thing going for this place. Where to start.. After a lovely 5 days in Seminyak, we had booked 4 nights in this location to relax, stay in our room, chill and watch dvd's. We soon discovered with-in minutes that there was NO FRIDGE, NO SAFE, NO PHONE, NO DVD PLAYER, and the TV in the room was miniature & ancient, less than 30cms big and had a set top box, not to mention all of the movie channels and western chancels were blocked out. We asked the staff if we could hire a dvd player, or move to a room that did, they told me no rooms had dvd players at all. The Air-con in our room took over 2-3 hours to get going, then dripped everywhere underneath it, and was very noisy. The bathroom was terrible, open windows and full of mozzies, smells, no hand towels, no face cloths, no bath matts, and towels are old and no longer white and don't get replaced when room is made up. Also, no doonas on bed, just a thin sheet. The breakfast choices were terrible, dinner was terrible and what you actually received in front of you (unless it was indo, which was still terrible) was completely different to what was described on the menu IE french baguette is white toasted stale bread with butter both sides. The staff were friendly, only because they bairly spoke english and said yes to everything you asked but had no clue about anything. I would not recommend this place to anyone, other than backbackers and surfers and would not pay more that $30-$50 for it. My partner & i can slum it in the best of times but when you pay $97aus, you kind of expect a little bit more for your money than just a view, esp in Bali ( where we stayed in 5 star seminyak for $50 a night!). Try at your own expense, but dont have ANY EXPECTATIONS. There was a lot more miniature issues, that I wont even begin to go into on here that you come to get used to with other hotels ( eg, blow dryer, international adaptors, room service they don’t exist here) but good luck if you take the punt and get a good deal.

Room Tip: Dont stay here if you have standards.

We were really pleasantly surprised by the stunning location, especially since it's not easy to find. After traveling down an overgrown little road, we were rewarded by a magnificent view from the cliffs of Padang Padang on one side and the surf break at Uluwatu on the other - a great bonus for my surfer husband ! The pool is beautiful, and well-appointed with loungers and umbrellas. Lovely staff and very comfortable cottages with wraparound balconies. We were able to engage the services of a driver through the hotel staff, who ferried us around to Jimbaran and other areas.

Booked the cottages for a spur of the moment trip to Bali that didn't involve hectic Kuta. We arrived late at night and the lovely staff waited up to greet us. Unfortunately they had shut the restaurant by this time so we went to bed hungry. We didn't get to see the view until the morning when we woke at first light. For the price we paid we really weren't expecting what we got! The room was perfectly clean and very private. The food at the restaurant was actually some of the most humble and delicious Indo cuisine we had this trip. The pool is great and the view is just idealic. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!! Its the perfect hideaway.

Uluwatu cottages was great! We loved the pool, the rooms were comfortable and the beer was cold. What more can you ask for? They also have motorbikes available for $6 a day so it was very easy to get to Padang Padang beach. Uluwatu beach is walking distance if you know the right way to go.
The hotel is located on a cliff so you have great ocean views too. The staff was great. The food was good and reasonably priced. We would stay here again.

We've stayed at Uluwatu cottages recently for 4 days. From the moment we arrived we could feel we were at the right place. The place is amazing the staff is super friendly and the views are breathtaking. I've looked very carefully for a place to stay in Uluwatu as it can be tricky but the place its right on spot. For those who surf its only a 10 minute walk from a great surfing spot in Uluwatu and for those who love the outdoors and nature u can not miss the sunsets an astonishing views. we will definitely go back and stay there. The staff was AMAZING and very caring doing everything to help us all the time! we had a great time.. I traveled with my partner and as much as it is perfect for couples its always perfect for friends and families.

Room Tip: Room 11 has the best view

You know when you're having a great holiday and then everything turns to s&$!? This was it for us. It looked promising with the lovely outlook but then unfortunately it went downhill from there. Our first night and we lost powe, meaning no air conditioning, no toilet, no shower no cold drinks. Not the fault of the hotel, but we were totally neglected with no communication or acknowledgement. We had already paid for 2 nights but decided to bail after 1 night, as we were very uncomfortable but were very disappointed by the lack of service by the staff.

Room Tip: No safe or fridge in any rooms

B/C of Trip Advisor & Booking I gambled on staying at such a "value" priced hotel. Attending a wedding at the Bulgari Hotel (5-7 minutes away), a place close seemed right. Was it ever! This place is fantastic for its service, views, and value. First of all, APEC summit divert the flight = 4 hours late arrival. The driver (by far the best in Bali) waited for me. Great guy. Then the staff knew me on a 1st name basis. The grouper for lunch ($6 USD) was the best meal. Then the view from this hotel is post card. Stunning from every angle. And the price was unbelievable. It is was an incredible find. The water pressure is low (annoying), and the decor austere, but you easily offset that with the service and views. Super for the money. I clicked excellent for rooms b/c each room is actually a private villa. NOW, hire the driver. No one can ever find this place. It is remote and hidden. But the driver is an awesome person.

Room Tip: all villas are the same.
