Don't be tempted to go to here, because it's absolutely not worth the money (20.000 IDR for uluwatu entrance, 70.000 IDR Kecak dance). First of all, it's a chaos getting way too much people seated in a much too small place. Just when you think there's absolutely not enough space for more people, they'll let in quite some more, even throughout the dance. It was seriously packed, people sitting right behind the dancers. Who had barely enough space to move and dance, because of that.
Show was interesting for about five minutes, but somehow we managed to sit out the entire thing. Just when you think it's ended, they start their funny act, picking people from the audience etc.
Couldn't be happier when our taxi driver came to us and told us it's ended. We quickly left before the show officially ended, otherwise it's almost impossible because of everyone leaving at once.
The only thing I remotely liked were the costumes and the makeup of the girls, although you could see costumes weren't authentic at all (cheap fabrics). And the dancers genuinely seemed to enjoy it.
Do yourself a favor and skip this one. Lots of people were thinking the same and left throughout the show.

This was my second time at Uluwatu Temple, but the first time for the Fire Dance. I had seen the Frog Dance before, but this was much different. So there are no instruments for music, it's just a few dozen people using their voices instead. The plot was interesting, but a bit dry at times in the middle. The actors do enjoy picking on the audience a little, so if you don't want that sit towards the back. The view of the sunset is good, so if you do get bored just take some pictures. The only big problem with this attraction is the traffic leaving the temple. After 1 hour in traffic I looked out and saw that we were only in Nusa Dua! The exit traffic is ridiculous, just as bad as Jakarta's. If this is you first time in Bali and you aren't staying nearby, you may want to skip this just because the traffic is so bad.

The dance is by 70 men who emulate the sounds of traditional instruments and starts daily at 6.00 pm – a good time because it is about the same time as the sunset over the Indian Ocean. The dance is detailed and long (about one hour). You need to get there early as there is a limit on seating.
The dance is impressive, particularly with the main story being acted in traditional costumes – see pics.
Tip – get a seat at the top, on the left side as you enter so you can watch the performance and also the photos of the temple in the sunset.

Like the way they interpreted the story and the day we went it was houseful .Kids loved the monkeys and the view was breathtaking as we look down at the sea and the hills just amazing.

21 July 2013, it was my second visit to watch this Kecak and Fire Dance. My first time is in around 2002, and the dance was a little bit scary because of the rhythm of the kecak and the 'Leak'. But yesterday, I found it was boring. No more scary thing. No goosebumps. Whereas, it's the thrill for watching this dance. Unfortunately, over time, this dance concept has changed. Anyway, I still found it amazing because it is different from the dance I have watched in Garuda Wisnu Kencana :D
