“Lovely room and great breakfast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2012

My girlfriend and I stayed here on Saturday night as a reccomendation from a local restaurant called The Curlew and we were not dissapointed, The Bar area had a nice local warm feel about it and then our room was beautiful, massive King size bed and lovely separate shower and toilet rooms.

The candlelight breakfast with the snow falling was very very tasty and picturesque and all locally sourced which I liked.

Overall we had a lovely stay and would definetly return. We stayed in Pooke which is one of the individually designed rooms.

The ONLY slight downside was that the Shower Gel, Shampoo etc were all less than half full but it didnt matter that much.

Room Tip: Pooke was lovely

Thank you very much for your lovely reveiw and I am really pleased you liked staying with us in "Pooke". It is one of my favourite rooms too and what with the snow falling in the morning, I have to agree that is was a magical Sunday morning!
We always appreciate feedback and I am so sorry that the toiletries were only half full. That is such as shame as they are lovely too and I can only say that this has now be rectified and my training sheet has been updated to say that these should be checked every day.
Thank you once again though for taking the time to write your reveiw and we look forward to hopefully welcoming you both back in the future.
Kind regards
Jane

If you fancy a quiet weekend break, in picturesque village, local pub with roaring log fire, fantastic food and rooms then stay here.

We were down for a wedding at the end of October and stupidly failed to book a taxi (it is rural). These guys couldn't do enough for us and that included all the locals at the bar, who all chipped in and tried to help us out of our dilemma.

Nothing you could fault, not a single thing. V. eccentric Bassett Hound adds to the atmosphere. Combine with Batemans or any other unique places to visit in the area(but frankly, we would have just been happy to spend the whole weekend with papers, the fire, good wine and fab food)

Where to start? I have stayed here on business 4 or 5 times now and I really cannot find any faults with The George! This fabulous old coaching inn has picturesque views over the old high street from the dining area and some of the bedrooms. They have 4 rooms in total and the 2 that I have stayed in have been of really high quality - very comfortable beds, facilities for working (WiFi) and luxury bathrooms. The food served is sourced from local suppliers, the menu updated regularly and the has always been delicious. They also have a some excellent ales on tap as well as a good wine list and single malts available. John and Jane have never failed to provide a warm welcome and I always look forward to returning. If you're looking for somewhere for business or leisure I can't recommend The George highly enough.

We stayed at The George for our wedding night in October 2011 and it is absolutely delightful.
The staff and management are so friendly, the locally sourced food is delicious and the rooms are so comfortable and well appointed. We could not have chosen better.
You will not be disappointed staying at The George. It is absolutely charming !!

Room Tip: Padyhame has a little window seat, which adds to the charm

I stayed at The George Inn on Friday October 7th 2011.

If there is a more comfortable, amenable and well-located boutique hotel anywhere in Sussex, I’m looking forward to staying there. The George is everything a small hotel should be – well appointed, locally sourced food, great beers and hospitable without being overbearing.

The rooms are absolutely spotlessly clean, the breakfast hearty and healthy and the bar packed with a reassuring mix of friendly locals and resting travellers. If you’re in the area and looking for somewhere to stay, I’d recommend The George Inn.

The perfect springboard to the local area, that's if you want to leave.

Unable to book a hotel for a few days holiday, we were dubious about staying in a "Pub with Rooms". To our delight, our doubts were totally unfounded, indeed, the management & staff at "The George" could teach many hoteliers a lesson (we've stayed at Best Westerns, Johansens & other recommended hotels so have many establishments to compare!). Our room was well maintained & comfortable, the food very good with plentiful portions, the staff friendly & the service generally very good. This despite the absence for lengthy periods of the owner & his wife who gave birth to their 1st child during our stay; the staff carried on admirably without standards dropping. That said, one disappointment was that the male manager, though normally friendly & attentive, did appear to ignore us & a party of 3 in for dinner one evening. After waiting 15 minutes or more for some service, I was obliged to ask for menus & drinks whilst the other party left in disgust. This was a surprising "one-off" but a shame that it should mar an otherwise perfect stay.
The bottom line, however, is that we are hard to please but "The George" is highly recommended.

Stayed here for 3 days for friend's son's wedding in Frant. Location was good. Hotel has 4 rooms all of which have been recently refurbished in boutique style. We stayed in Padyhame which was very pleasant and the bed was comfy. Small but perfectly formed en suite. Only downside was that I would have loved a chair to do my make up & hair in front of dressing table rather than having to stand up! Also no wardrobe - there is space - just country chic hooks on the wall. Breakfast was good and there was flexibility for adding or subtracting just as you wanted. All produce appeared to be local which is good & yoghurts were really nice. Would return again when next touring area. Stanley is an added bonus!
