“Great place to stay”
Reviewed March 17, 2014

I spent a night at this resort which is in the middle of the forest. I stayed in the tree house which is basic - but a great experience with the animals walking around below you, so I certainly recommend staying here. The food was also very nice. But even better were the staff - I spoke to all of them and they were very friendly and informative. I have never experienced such welcoming staff who were willing to go the extra mile. Really happy I discovered this place.

Room Tip: Get the tree house if it is available

Inn the wild is truly in the wild. The resort bang in the middle of forest without any fencing is a boon for adventure seekers. Own Vehicles prohibited only for one reason no roads :-).
The cottages are basic but that is the pick here, you are living in a Jungle so Luxury is out of question, that said even Basic here means Cleanliness upto the mark, Comfortable and Relaxing. Food was good way better than some of the High End resorts around Bandipur
The nature walk is in itself a crowd puller and beware evne if you don't spot anything the experience in itself will give you goose bumps. We heard a TIGER roar a few meters away from where we were standing and that was it for all of us, RUN was the word and obviously we ran helter skelter.
SUNISH the wildlife expert was up to date on everything and people just make sure he is accompanying you at all Costs, He is what we call The PERFECT WILDLIFE Host.
And not to forget The night safari amazing experience, we saw a heard of Elephants and also an Wild one which was too close to comfort to the Tree House on the property.
No such fixed activities on the Property, Just sit back and enjoy the Wildlife and if you are not the person who likes to laze around explore the Jungle

Room Tip: Tree House is the mantra on this property but make sure to book it well in advance it is always book...

This place is about 3 to 4 kms inside the jungle, which was evident from the fact that peacocks wild boars, and deer roam around the resort! There is no fencing whatsoever and hence we could sight even elephants in the vicinity of the resort! A bit scary if you go with the family, but no issues as such! A bunch of adventure loving bachelors who love nature and trekking would be the ideal guests, but a family getaway also is recommended! We landed there on a monday morning, and not surprisingly my family was the only guest in the entire resort! But the staff took atmost care with no compromise in the food or the service! We stayed there for a day and thoroughly enjoyed!! I definitely recommend to one and all!!! The best part is the open gypsy drive in the forest for about 45 mins! Although we went in as early as 730 in the night, the eerie silence of the forest was remarkable!!

It was my long pending dream to visit Madumalai and got the enchanting experience of staying inside the Maduamali forest, thanks to right selection of resort. We stayed at Inn The wild for 3 nights, out of which 2 nights in jungle shacks and 1 at tree house (recommended). Rooms were basic, clean and tidy. Food was wonderful, staff was really good and they were always there for you.
But you don't go to this resort for what I have mention above. This resort offers you more things out of room and restaurant than inside. You become a part of the forest inside this resort. You are continuously surrounded by wild animals and if you want know the forest little more then, you should go for trek and night safari with their naturalist Sunish Sabastian. He has resourceful insights of forest and animal behavior and he is always ready to go " a step further" to make sure that you get to know real nature of the forest. Treks, night safaris, paid jungle safari with Sunish made our trip really unforgettable. Along with this, they have small water body inside the resort and this is accompanied with Machan and sitting on it and making your eyeball roll over every bush and tree while listening is also a mediating experience.
My recommendations while going to this resort is just be careful (or may be just stay inside the room) if you have infant, very old person of unfit person with you and most importantly ready to be a part of nature.

Quite a big resort in the middle of the forest! Best thing is they quench the thirst of animals that live there. But you better carry your own water bottles :-) (If you do not want to be over charged)
Deers Deers everywhere. We stayed there for two nights , came back with lot of memories to cherish. But when we were leaving the place we had started hating deers :-) As they were all around :-) Food was excellent on day 1 dinner ,Breakfast was also delicious.Second day we knew the food(Lunch) was not fresh , same items served with different name :-) But did not complain as we were at least getting fed in that jungle!!!

Rooms neat and clean. Water dirty. Cannot wash your head! In a jungle, cannot expect more.
All staff were very friendly. And did entertain all our requests were possible. Also helped us plan our day visits.
Tree house is the best. If you are lucky in the night you will spot something for sure. The sunset and the moon set are perfectly visible from the tree house.

On the moonlight safari we were able to spot elephants. And some lucky members of my family were able to spot elephant fight as well :-)

Special thanks to Sunish (Naturalist). He took us to the night safari and Nature walk. (Don't miss both.). He had a lot of information to share , worth the walk. He makes the experience thrilling :-) Else it might be boring :-)

Room Tip: If you can choose the tree top, that's where all the activity happens in the night if you are lu...

Inn the wild is truly in the wild. The property is right inside the forest without any fencing which makes the place ever so exciting and a thriller. Your own vehicle cannot even go up to the resort. You have to leave your vehicle about 3 kms from the resort from where you are taken in a 4x4 jeep only. The cottages are decent, well maintained. One thing I must emphasize on is the food. You cannot expect such good food deep in the forest. The nature walk is a must for all. Its an experience in itself where you walk in the forest in search of spotting wild animals. The night safari also is an amazing experience. Though there is not much to do within the property, one must go to this place only for nature and wildlife. Overall a fantastic experience.

Room Tip: For a couple take either the tree house or the jungle shack. For 3-4 people take the tribal home.

Lives up to its name. The resort location is fabulous. Its approx 3.5 km off the road from the power station. The drive itself is an adventure... very bumpy. The rooms are very well maintained and clean.

We were a group of 6 guys who had taken 2 cottages. We were there for 3 nights. As we had our own car we did most of the animal searching on our own.

The resort has a man made water body where you will see deers and elephants coming in to quench their thirst towards the evening. Near the water you have a machan on a tree. The view from this machan is great. Nice place to sit and view the sunset or the sunrise.

The food is also good. its not something that you need to stuff down your throat just so that you can live. We had all 3 meals paid for and provided by the resort. You do not have the option to go to the nearest town as its pretty far just for a meal. But the resort do provide a decent spread. They have a mix of veg and non veg items for main coarse and soups & salads for the starter.

The staff are very polite and helpful. They are willing to listen and help out.

As the resort is open and without electrical fencing and very close to dense jungle I suggest that you do not step out of the cottage on foot as their would be wild animals. if you have a vehicle (suv) then you can drive around the place the whole night.

All in all a place that i would definitely want to go back.

Room Tip: The cottage 202 is where we stayed. Early in the morning the deers sit just a 100 mts from the cotta...
