“Idyllic getaway for a city dweller needing respite”
Reviewed May 5, 2014

Our family stayed at Bamboo Banks for a day and had a wonderful time.

For nature lovers, there are many places to explore within the farm. We spotted a herd of deer, langurs, several different birds, bird nests, a couple of rabbits, a chameleon during our morning walk. There is a stream on the property which is easily accessible and makes a great playarea for kids and family. There is plenty of open space where we could use the ATV, play cricket, use the bicycles at the farm to explore etc. The geese/turkey/dogs add to the farm experience.

Kids were able to take horse back riding in the morning which was very exciting for them. We also had use of the ATV which was put to good use. (No extra charge for the horse back ride or ATV! What a deal!)

Food was served at the dining area and was good. A good spread for us vegetarians - Rice/Coconut Rice/Rasam/Dhal/Gobi manchurian/cabbage poriyal/phulkas/semiya sweet for vegetarians. (There were some non veg options too). We had idli/dosa/vada/chutney/sambhar/breads/different jams-spreads/fresh fruits/tea-coffee. What more can one ask for?

The staff were very pleasant and helpful and served tea-coffee-boost at our cottage when requested. The hosts checked on us multiple times to ensure our comfort. Overall our experience was great and this place turned out to be just what we city dwellers needed to get away from the hustle/bustle of the city and unwind. We will be back with our friends/family soon.

Room Tip: We had the twin cottages (Acacia and Jacaranda) and it comfortably hosted a family of 8 (4 adults an...

I'm a frequent visitor to Mudumalai and normally rough it out but decided that comfort and good food were a must so Bamboo Banks it was and make no mistake it was a choice and chance well worth taking. Unfortunately the Mudumalai/Masinagudi of old has faded away, forest department over zealously stopping anyone from enjoying what is rightfully theirs to spot. So a surprise to see almost all the animals (no elephants!) on the 40 plus acres of Bamboo banks. Breakfast with Malabar squirrels and deer, ducks and and...dinner with panther sawing down by the river. Great hosts also in Shahnaz and Zorasp, thank you.

Room Tip: All room are individual and far apart so go for any, closer to the main house for the faint hearted...

Bamboo Banks was such a pleasant surprise on all counts of nice property, lots to do & hospitality. The Kothavala family of Mr.Zerasp & his sister Ms.Shahnaz were very welcoming & friendly & made us feel at ease instantly.

Coming to the cottages, there are only seven which ensures no crowds like other resorts & they are beautiful & comfy rooms with all facilties. We stayed in the Stone cottages which were huge & nice with a inter-connecting door. But plz dont go expecting typical resorty treatment & there are no ac's which were not really required anyways as we spent most of our time outdoors. There are a lot of other things to do like go for horse rides, hit the pool & enjoy riding the ATV's on the rough terrain of the place or just walk around the 42 acre property.

We were only slightly disappointed by the food with was like typical home cooked food & got a bit repetitive through our stay. But never the less tasty & filling. We never left the resort through out our stay, that's how comfortable we were.

But all in all it was such a refreshing experience completely detached from the hectic & cumbersome city life. Would highly recommend the place for a good detox.

Room Tip: We stayed at the Stone cottages which were very good but would recommend the Acacia & Jacaranda...

We were 6 family members, we took three rooms which is near to the swimming pool and all the three rooms are well located to spot the animals like deer and other animals from your room, which are coming from the forest. All rooms are very clean and tidy. Food provided by them are good(they will tell you the menu for the lunch in the breakfast , if you want to make any changes to menu which goes with other guests then they will definitely make it for you)and all the staff members are very kind to us.

Regarding transport, if you are coming from ooty by car, take the shortest distances from ooty to masinagudi( which is approx 30 km, but nearly 30 hairpin-bends, which is very steep), you can also come via gudalur but the road from ooty ooty to gudalur is good but from gudular to masinagudi is very very bad(25 kms, it took me 90 mins to cover the distance by car).

Such a lovely property, acres and acres to walk around and explore. The cottages are very basic, but neatly kept. Food was excellent. Lots of activities for children to do, horse-riding, fishing, lots of ducks and geese, 2 lovely dogs. The hosts are very nice people who make you feel absolutely at home.
Would definitely recommend this for a family holiday.

Booked it through the net but once i got talking to Zerasp to clear certain issues, i just felt it was the right place and it was...!

Besides the extremely hospitable atmosphere, welcoming scenery, spotless room; meeting and interacting with the owners is just worth trip in itself. Zerasp' attention to detail to ensure evry reasonable comfort, Shahnaz's attention to the food and Siasp's wit and knowledge are an experience in itself

We saw so much of wildlife just at the farm itself, that really didnt feel the need to move out much. The deer in their hordes, the monkey families with their antics and the occasional wild boar followed at times with the cries of the panther were all there. For the elephants, it is better that you go out to the adjoining forests a few minutes drive away and you will see them to your hearts content.

Cant miss out mentioning the fantastic food, Variety, quantity and taste...name it you have it !

The other staff are so pleasant and helpful that you just feel that they are there for you.

We believed that we were at a home away from home but being pandered to !!

If you want opulent luxury and a 5* ambience, give this place a miss. If you believe that you are in a jungle and can cope with it, dont miss it

A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE WHERE I MADE FRIENDS !

Room Tip: The cottages near the open area
