Samudera Hotel
Ranked #7 of 9 Kuala Besut B&B and Inns
Reviewed September 17, 2013

We, unfortunately, stayed in this hotel before took over to perhentians islands. Besides it's location, close to jetty, the whole hotel was rather disgusting and oldlooking. Not only the bedsheets but also the walls were dirty and nasty. The toilet didn't work properly and the whole bathroom was full of insects (ants and spiders). Doe to these circumstances the room was absolutely overpriced (111RM). We can absolutely not recommend this hotel.

It is the only hotel that looks safe and comfortable than the others so we decided to choose this one as our stop over stay before going to Perhentian Island the next morning. It is very basic and average for the price that we pay that is a bit pricey I think.Besides there are no other hotels that has the standard of comfort around and it is all fully booked so we have to stayed in here anyway.I took the room that has the sea view as my child is eager to see the ocean even though we can't see it clearly with the flags all over in front the hotel and it is blocking the view,it's very messy and looks like it is unorganized.Bask to the hotel, the room is big and bed is comfortable for a night sleep, but the TV channel is limited and not in a good clear view picture, the toilet is not functioning very well as it's draining system is leaked. There are no good restaurant or food stalls around to dine in and we have to travel to the nearest town to have dinner. It'll be great stay if they have their own restaurant so it'll be easier for hotel guest to eat and if there are more reconstruction or makeover on the room. All in all it's a good stay for your family as a stop over from or to the island :)

The room we stayed in was old overlooking the sea. We chose this outlet as a stop over for our trip to Perhentian Island. Walking distance to the jetty.5 of us slept in the room without much complaint - with additional mattress. We had dinner on the opposite side of the river which was marvelous. Supper in front of the hotel & great local menu breakfast nearby the jetty.

For the value of rm160 (on a holiday eve) paid for 5 adults one night stay, I would rate this hotel acceptable - even though with some flaws - mitigated by the convenience of location.

Samudera Hotel is old and dirty. In the bathroom there are insect and spider everywere. The personnel and the director are not pleasant, if you ask them to come and assist you with the room they will answer the maid is having a rest. There is free Wi-Fi connection.

Once told this consider that probably you will arrive in Kuala Besut few minut later than the last ferry departure and so you must spend one night in the Town before leaving to Perenthian Island. Samudera hotel is close to bus station (50 meter) and it's the biggest hotel in the city. Other hotel have few rooms and maybe they could be sold out. So samudera hotel colud be your last chance.

Consider it only if you have no other chance.

Seriously in need of some TLC. This place is extremely old. Either that, or it hasn't been maintained at all. The lobby area is very small. They checked me and my boyfriend in without problem. We had to put a 50RM deposit down in cash which we got back when we returned the key the next morning.

The only reason we stayed here is because our flight got in too late to get to Perhentian. It's only plus is that it's right next to the Jetty, so it's super easy to get a boat in the morning.

We booked a double deluxe. Old TV. It's a tube. Didn't try to turn it on, but it's was from the 80's. The bed was ok, however, it had an old blanket and that was about it. Slept in my clothes.

The bathroom is a shower/bathroom combo which leaked. And the toilet seat was broken. Towels were sketchy at best. Everything just felt dirty.

This is probably the worst "hotel" I've ever stayed at, but there are not many options when you stay in Kuala Besut.

The room we actually booked ('deluxe' double room) was on the first floor and horrible, it didn't look clean, it looked old etc. So we upgraded to the superior room on the ground floor (for RM10 extra, peanuts) which was way better. It was clean, we had a normal shower and we could watch film channels for free the entire day. Also the (I think) owner was very friendly. There is not a lot to do in Kuala Besut so we were very happy with the film channels.

My first choice motel in Kuala Besut is fully booked. That's why we have choose this motel which is nearby. We stayed in a family room for 1 night before go to Perhentian.
The location is great, just outside the Jetty. There are plenty of seafood restaurants, just outside the motel. Parking lots on the street are available but quite limited especially super peak season.
The cleanliness of the room is acceptable but with aged furniture and fittings. The motel really needs refurnishment. WIFI, TV, electric kettle and heater are available in the room. The room rate just a little bit cheaper than T'Logde. I will definitely go for T'Lodge if there is room available there.
