After a long journey and being picked up at the airport and taken to the villa in Kamala. We were not disappointed at the size and luxury of the lovely villa. The two main bedrooms are large although the third where my daughter slept was quite pokey. The outdoor area is great with a nice sized pool coming off the lounge area. Bathrooms are great although the water smells a but like mmmm sewage but unfortunately that's everywhere in Thailand. The place was clean and tidy but they lock up all the cleaning utensils such as brooms etc and only come once a week to clean. which is difficult with kids re sand etc because the tiled floor gets quite grubby with bugs and dirt and if a vacuum or broom was available we would of swept it every now and then.
Entertainment wise there is a tv in the loungeroom and two main bedrooms but unfortunately no DVD player in the lounge for the kids to watch movies. Other than a an oldish CD player there is no other entertainment devices. The villa does have wifi which is a bonus.
The two main issues that need to be addressed before staying here are number one unless you get your own transport which we did in the form of scooters is that the location of the villa is in the back of Kamala a fair way from the main beach road, the beach itself and shops. There a couple of restaurants nearby but there are much better eating places right in Kamala near the beach.
The second and our main issue which we were annoyed by is this: upfront we paid nearly 2.5k in Australian dollars for the 2 weeks we stayed here and just prior to travelling we were emailed with the details of the villa etc and were informed we need to pay a 3 thousand baht deposit on arrival. This was for electricity costs and if it was more than this over for the 2 weeks we had to pay the balance. So on checking out the woman came over and read the metre and told us we need to pay another 2,100 baht for electricity. This was annoying and basically a rip off how can we check this and how do we know that other nearby locals were not hooking into the same electricity supply, so basically that was $200 Australian for 2 weeks electricity! Coming from a cold climate and not used to the hot humid conditions after a couple of nights we decided to have the air conditioner on only in the bedrooms on very low and as we could not open the doors for the bugs and Mosquitos and only had the air conditioner on rarely during the day. Other than that we had minimal lights on and the tv which was only on a few times. The fact is too that the air filter for the swimming pool was on 24/7 which was out of our control and I believe the main cause of the expensive electricity bill.
Overall a nice villa but the owner/s if they are going to charge a high cost initially for the accommodation should not charge extra for electricity.
I would recommend this to a friend although I would let them know re the above.
What a magnificent property!! The villa is better than the pictures. Its modern and extremely clean with picturesqe views of the mountains from the roof top terrace. The master bedroom was amazing with both a rain shower and a jacuzzi bath tub to help with the relaxation process you would expect from a country like Thailand. There are resteraunts and massage parlours less than 15 metres away with the most amazing massages and the kindest people in the world. I was religiously having a 2 hour massage daily which costs less than £10!! Unbelievable!! The property also hosts a nice swimming pool that is not shared and has a waterfall feature with a touch of a button, truly excellent! Pierre who manages the property was an incredible guy who's kindness i will never forget. Very accomodating and also Bear who was extremelly hospitable in everyway. The area itself is not far from the main area Patong where a short scooter or taxi ride will get you there in 10 minutes or less. Its away from the madness but not too far to commute to. My first time to Phuket and one that me and my friends will never forget. Thank you Pierre!!! I will definately without a doubt will be staying here again and again. Life of a king!!!!
