“Brilliant show”
Reviewed May 27, 2008

Fantasea is a must see in phuket. The whole place looks like a huge carnival, with many cultural and entertaining events going on. The main show starts about 9 pm, the show comprises magic show, beautiful thai dance, a musical show depicting the story of "Eravat", the mythological elephant.
The dinner has good variety. The buffet is laid in a big hall, and table numbers are assigned with the tkt itself, there is no rush.
Howver you can skip the option of dinner.
Kids are going to have a wonderful time...........so make sure to see this.

“The show is ok, the rest drags it down”
Reviewed April 30, 2008

A spectacular floor and acrobatic show, with laser effects, some culture. A story with local hero defeats evil and gets the girl, along with an entertaining magic show intermission keeps the kids entertained.
I don't have a problem with the performing elephants - elephants have been domesticated in various industries, notably logging, in Thailand for a long time and many no longer have a "job". This at least provides means for their survival.
Now the bad bits.
The tiger cubs used for photographs with the crowds - unusually dopey looking felines in my view - must be good milk in those bottles (note this author is a veterinarian). Also - what exactly do those tigers get to do when they grow up? The elephants get to perform, used for rides etc - but the tigers?
The sideshow - loud, brash and I couldn't get away from it fast enough. It is more peaceful on Bangla on a Satruday night.
Didn't go to the buffet as we were warned off by those who had attended in the days before us - seems many of the diners didn't understand the idea of a queue.
The best part of the evening was the tuktuk trip there and back from Patong. Much more fun and cheaper (for 4) than the "official" mini-bus transfer.
Next hint - if the sideshow doesn't interest you either, don't arrive at the recommended 90 minutes before the show - 20 would be fine. Don't leave it too late though - they still let you in, but you won't be popular with the 10 people who have to stand up to let you get to your seat while the show is on.

“A so so place..”
Reviewed April 28, 2008

i will only suggest parents with young children to visit this place in phuket..they said..you will miss phuket if you miss fantasea..but my personal opinion..it is nothing but just another normal amusement park with some entertainment...the price actually didn't cost what it worth for..bout 1,800 baht...the buffet dinner...only..the place looks grand but not the food..other than the dinner..is the show..which is bit boring..but they put in loads prop for the show..plus the whole park..which is filled with lights and decorations..the only reason i can make myself feel worth for what im paying for is the decoration and the props in the show..

other than that..i don't think is worth it...waste of money..

is ok if you miss fantasea..you wont miss phuket..

“Families, yes. Couples, no.”
Reviewed April 22, 2008

For families looking to occupy an evening, FantaSea is an easy (although pricey) way to entertain your kids. For young couples/honeymooners, your money is better spent at a nice restaurant if you've seen any types of acrobatic, magic, etc shows before.

They've done a good job to create the Disneyland/Carnival experience but squeeze every dime out of you while doing it. It's an very easy experience with smooth check-in, camera deposit and retrieval and visit experience. Prior to the start of the show, you can wander around, watching some small shows, visit the tiger exhibit (easy to miss! make sure you look for it!) and playing some carnival games.

Otherwise, you can go for the buffet, although based upon the other reviews, I decided to skip it.

“Must See”
Reviewed April 2, 2008

An excellent expereience , from being picked up on time , the organisation to get your tickets and the well cared for park , a superb meal and terrific show. You would think that with such huge crowds there would be problems but we experienced none collectiing our camera`s and photo`s after the show as this was also very well organised and then off to collect the bus home and again no problems at all. Great value for money , definately a must do.
