“a good experience one time visit tourist spot”
Reviewed December 3, 2012

Pricey but can get a better deal through the travel agency. A good evening family outing. Need to be there at least 2 hours before the show starts as there were many good and even magical sites to visits and to take photos. There are also fun fares to play (but need to pay). Before walking in to the show, make sure the cameras/handphones/ipads etc are kept tight in your bags otherwise you be directed to put at a counter (a long queue when time to collect). The show was overall good; colourful costumes, some magical shows, the performers appeared from all sides and corners of the hall. A little uneasy with its strong cultural, religious, fierce looking masks, fighting and fire guns sounds.

I have been to a FantaSea show twice - it is truly amazing and worth going!! Although I am not a big fan of the elephant shows (or any animal show), it is all done so beautifully, I got all teary eye a few times - It's very entertaining, dramatic, funny and just awesome!!

“I feel rather guilty going to this show.”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

This is simply a tourist trap and in my opinion has nothing to do with modern day Thai culture. Bus loads upon bus loads of ignorant tourists are deposited here to watch captive animals perform with their human dominators.

In modern day Thailand elephants are simply used to entertain tourists. Very few wild elephants exist and most of the rich biodiversity of Thailand has been devoured by the greed of humankind.

Back to the show.

Pros: it is pretty short. Costumes were colourful and the stage was impressive.

Cons: it is a circus with elephants, buffalo, a tiger, goats, pigeons and some chickens. The performers seem rather bored and everything is done to a pre recorded sound track. Too many loud bangs and firecrackers going off around the animals. I was startled on a number of occasions.

Tip: Do not take a camera as you will have to stand in a long line to deposit it and then in another long line to receive it after the show. The theme park shows very little of Thailand culture as it was and really is all about making money off tourists. The poor elephants transporting tourists one ride after another, lots of mass produced curios, have your photo taken with a tiger and a feeble selection of games for children.

This show did not work for me, however judging from the raucous applause from the largely Russian audience, it must have hit the right notes for them.

I do not recommend this show nor will I be back.
