we stayed there for 4 nights after 3 nights in the jungle and immediatly appreciated the luxury of this resort. We had a room on thge top section that had a great view. The room was smelly however and we thought the smell would go after aerating the room. It didn't but we chose to stay because of the nice view. To get to the rooms there seems to be lot's of walking and steep climbing wherever your room is but that's ok there's golf carts available if you need them. They can be taken from the lobby and there's a phone in each building as well.
There's no beach close which was a disapointment but we were happy with the shuttle every hour to kamala beach. We loved that beach as we found it charming. We rented an umbrella and loundge chairs everyday for about 150 baht ( 3$ us) and the buttler took care of making sure we always had shade and dusted the sand off our chairs regularly . we felt he was looking after our stuff when we went in the warm calm sea or for a walk. They even get your drinks for you if you want ( 80 baht 1.20 us) You must have corn on the cob that is cooked fresh by a lady on the beach...yummy!!!
As for the restaurant resort the breakfast was fine and we had dinner there 3 nights. Food was always fresh and good but the service was hit and miss. One server stood out from all others and offered the type of service that is expected in a 4-5 stars resort. Tossawat was his name. I feel the other waiters would benefit from extra training from him as they didn't have a clue what they were doing most of the time. They were all nice and polite but we were laughing at their service skills because they were so bad. The duet signing in the evening created a romantic ambiance. The view from the restaurant and pools was to die for. if you buy drinks at their bars take note that the drinks are watered down...we did not appreciate this as the dring and cocktails were quite pricy there.
Overall we do recommend this place if your in the kamala area.

Took a taxi from Airport to the resort at 600B. Guess that it should be the standard rate by the different taxi operators right outside the departure hall.. The journey from the airport was about 30min. Our driver drove us to his 'office' a minute driving distance from the airport to 'fill some forms'. As expected, his colleague, a lady opened our door and started selling tour packages. She also asked if we want to take the same car on our return trip to the Airport. But after realizing that we are staying in Aqua, she did not push further. The driver later shared with us that Aqua lies in a zone where no private taxi operators are allowed to pick up passengers from the hotel. Alongside Aqua, there are many luxurious hotels along the uphill road and customers have to book transfers from the hotel. His guess was that the transfer will cost us about 1000B-1200B or more. That scared us a little. We had no choice but to book a transfer from the hotel on our return trip but the rate was reasonable. 700B for a car that looks almost brand new. The driver was extremely courteous too.

We got to the resort at 10am. Were a little disappointed that they could not give us an early check-in. A rather courteous staff explained that the Villa we were allocated to was still occupied and we can only check in at 2pm, the original stipulated time. Our disappointment was further aggravated when at 2.10pm, after a trip to Kamala Beach for lunch, our room was still not ready. Informed them that we will wait at the pool and were told that they will come look for us when the room is ready. At 2.45pm, we had to walk to the reception to check again. They scrambled to make some calls to check and only at 3pm, were we ushered to our room. We even met the cleaner who looked rather embarrassed at our door. The fruit platter and welcome letter which was supposed to be in the room was delivered later.

The receptionist has upgraded our Sea-view deluxe room to a Jacuzzi Villa. Guess they had tried to be thoughtful by allocating us a room that's nearer to the main lobby, but with it located at a lower ground, the seaview was blocked by the trees. A peep at Villa 17 next door, think their seaview would be totally blocked by the foliage.

Nevertheless, its still a huge and lovely room. A King sized bed with 4 pillows and the mattress was reasonably hard. Very comfortable and I like it very much. The sofa area doubled up as a bed as well as a sofa to chill, munch and watch the television. Lots of huge and small pillows on the sofa bed.

The highlight of the room is the huge walk-in bathroom. The shower and toilet were separated, which makes it really convenient if you need to attend to natural calls while your partner is bathing. There's also a dressing corner, separated from the handwash basin. 2 wardrobes one for your partner and one for yourself. The jacuzzi bathtub was spacious enough for 2 person to enjoy an intimate time together.

The resort offers hourly trips to Kamala beach from 9am - 5pm. No booking required and the journey merely takes about 5mins. You can hop on to the next shuttle back at the exact drop off point. 3 trips to Patong, at 1130pm, 530pm, 930pm. No return trip and booking is required. If you need to take a taxi, 200B from Kamala, 400B from Patong.

Room Tip: Seaview was blocked at Villa 16 & 17

After staying at the aquamarine with my wife and three girls, I would be pressed to stay at another location on Phuket. The staff are exceptionally helpful, courteous and attentive. The swimming pools offer serious exercise or a place for Mrs to chill. The views are tranquil. We even heard monkeys in the jungle. And, best of all, it is well away from the hassling people of Patong. Kamala is where I would love to retire. It has everything, but at a more laid back pace than other parts of the island.
The breakfasts are varied and plentiful at the resort, although there is a little too much oil used for the omelettes. The only drawback is the group selling package tours at the resort: we paid twice what others paid for a trip to the Similan Islands. I recommend checking the prices at agents in town before booking your trip to that amazing location.
There are some great, authentic restaurants in Kamala: the best we found in Thailand.
Now to buy a unit...
We are definitely going back to the Aquamarine.

Room Tip: It is worthwhile paying a little more for a seaview room. It places you at the top of the resort, wh...

My partner and I spent six nights at the resort in 2006 and had fond memories so returned in late January 2012 with three friends for two nights.

The best part of our stay was the free upgrade (for all three separate parties) from a deluxe room to villa. The Thai style rooms were beautiful. A welcome cake and large bowl of fruits awaited us in each room upon arrival which was a lovely surprise.

We only ate at the resort once during our stay which was at approximately 10.30pm on the night we arrived. All meals were very good. The staff were however quite tired and service a little slow. The breakfast buffet had a good variety and was on par with my experience at other 4 star hotels in Thailand. There did seem to be less staff than in 2006 and they may have been slightly less attentive but overall still good.

The resort is a very short 10 to 15 minutes into Patong. It was in fact nice to be away from the hustle and bustle but still close to Patong and Kamala Beach.

The actual hotel itself is beautiful with a lot of Thai architecture. It is set dramatically and quite steeply in a hill side amongst the jungle which doesn't make it the best for very young children. There are however buggies available to transport guests from their rooms to reception, the bar and restaurants.

There are three pools on the premises including an infinity edge pool bar with great views over the Andaman Sea which we made good use of.

There is a shuttle service to Kamala Beach every hour which is fantastic and I believe there is one to Patong Beach also which we didn’t utilise during our stay.

Overall the experience for all five of us was very good. The resort reflects its four star rating. The resort could tighten up its service levels by providing a little more oversight and training for their staff, particularly in the restaurant and bar; i.e. drinks delivered in faster time-frames and staff that can understand English well so food ordering isn’t a difficulty for customers and staff.

Beautiful Hotel. Gorgeous Rooms, but when you think about the little things, that's what makes the experience.

I arrived to the hotel to which I asked for a 'wake up call' for the following morning as I was flying back home and a taxi to the International Airport. This did NOT happen and I woke up by my own body clock. I missed out on breakfast to which I had already paid for in the hotel costs and as I needed to be at the airport, I went to the front desk I spoke to a lady about the situation to which she shrugged her shoulders. I couldn't believe it. I said well atleast tell me that I have a taxi. She looked at me like a stunned mullet. No taxi was organised either.

It was with great generousity from one of the bell boys who called his friend who drove me to the airport with literally 30 secs to spare before the gate closed.

I will NEVER stay at this hotel again!

Me and mum wife stayed at thie resort over the new year. The hotel is away from all hustle and bustle but can easily get to other popular areas, such as patong, karon beach. Theres taxi available everywhere which can be hired for the whole day or few hours. Be warn that the hotel is on the hill, so be prepared for a steep walk up and down to the kamala beach. Plus point of the hotel is the view from the rooms and lobby, its breathtaking. There isnt much to do at the resort but a short taxi ride to the patong beach, where you can party all night.
With regards to the service provided by the hotel, there was no welcome drink!! Staff are fairly poor with their english. AND room we were given was smelly and furnitures were very old. The rooms need updating and modernised. Following a complain, we were transferred to a better room. Breakfast was ok, not a lot of choice. Overall the resort was average but the service could be improved.
