We stopped by here for lunch based on all the great reviews of this place. Its a quaint place with some character, so looked like a good place. The first thing we noticed when we were sitting down is all the red ants. The first chairs we tried to sit in were full of them, so we chose another spot. The waitress was very helpful and raised the umbrella to give us some shade. She got bit by one of the red ants.
We ordered a "big" burger and french fries to share. It took a while for it to arrive and the waitress said they were having some electrical problems, so no problem. We spent our time while we waited fending off the attacking red ants and swiping at flies, so at least we weren't bored.
We were a little concerned when we saw the cost of the cheesburger was about $10, which is about what we would expect to pay in the US, including fries. But wait, fries were about $3.00 extra. For a place where the average entree is about $6 to $8, that seemed like a bit much. However, we heard that it was huge, so we decided to share it.
The burger and fries arrived and looked good enough. However, I would not call it huge, guessing maybe 6 ounces. We were not overly impressed with the taste either, but that's maybe a personal choice. We thought it was dry and hard and heavily seasoned. The fries were excellent.
I started to give this place 3 stars because the service was good and it's a quaint place, but I just can't with a not so great burger and fries going for almost $13.00 and having to spend our entire lunch defending ourselves from ants and flies.
Maybe dinner would be better, but there are so many other nice places in Kammala to have lunch, we would not come back here.
