“Great resort, - super location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2013

Great resort "adults only" scandinavian style. pls find my points below:

+
Spacy and nice funitured rooms with a big terrace
Great service and very clean rooms
Superb location direct on the beach
Breakfast just super quality

-
Drinks and food a bit expensive , a lot of good and very cheap restaurants just outside the fend.
Room (4208) smelled very mouldy specially when aircon was turned off. (old building nearest the beach).

All in all great.. But next time we would choose a room in the "New buildings"..

Me and my wife spent 8 days there at February. It's pretty nice calm and comfortable place to stay with beautiful views on sea or mountains which are around.
We had both breakfast and dinners and have nothing to complain on - was always nice with various cuisines and wide range of dishes choice.

Pro:
- Two restaurants with good food
- Nice beach and pools
- Free wi-fi at lobby and possibility to use paid wifi on all territory of hotel even on beach
- Big rooms (our's was more than 40 square meters)
- Very calm place - no noise, no kids

Cons:
- Spa center actually is small pavilion open-air so not very cozy
- Sun-beds on hotel's beach are paid (400 Baht for two persons)
- Nothing attractive around hotel - few small food shops and low quality restaurants in village so you need to take taxi to go to some place

Room Tip: Rooms at the first floor of the main building (where lobby is) are too hot because of some service a...

Just returned from the Kamala Beach Resort, Adults Only part of the Sunprime Resort. We had recently been in Singapore and Australia and had booked this hotel independently through Expedia for the last two weeks of our trip. The hotel had been booked about 6 months prior to our holiday.

Overall the holiday was very good. However, make sure you receive the room you have paid for. I had done plenty of research and new exactly what room I was expecting for the extra money I had paid. A Grand Deluxe Pool View Room. Upon arrival we were directed to a very tired looking ground floor room which was the last room before you went through the doors to the family hotel and the corridor is being used constantly by people goingback and to the shop. It was not what I had paid for and I wasn't happy with it. After going back to reception I was told that the room I was expecting would be available the following day. Once we moved into the room we had paid extra for you could immediately compare it to the photos of the upgraded room. i.e., wooden floors, bath and shower, mini bar stocked, electric mosquito repellant in room.

We were then given a ground floor Grand Deluxe Pool View room which had a little gate which led to the pool. They have a perfect regime of not allowing towels to be left on sunbeds unattended before 9.30 but even saying that there was always sunbeds where we preferred and always sunbeds available all day. There are about 3 pools in the Adult Section of the hotel and more pools in the family hotel. Unfortunately we were unable to unpack and settle in for the first 36 hours of our holiday but after the move we settled in and had a great time.

Breakfast which was everything and more you could want. HP sauce lovers take your own. Everything from cooked breakfasts with an egg station. Fresh fruit, danish pastries, all kinds of bread, ham, olives, tomatoes, onions, cucumber, cheese, pancakes, every kind of cereal you could want, about 3 different types of yoghurt and more.

We ate out at different restaurants every night along the sea front. They all look a bit basic but ignore that and eat at a different one every night - you will find your favourite. No tummy problems at all. Kamala Village - 5/10 mins walk from the hotel along a sandy boardwalk also has numerous restaurants and shops and is a nice evening walk without it being too traumatic - nobody hassles you - a polite no thank you and everyone is happy. A thai meal consisting of say two Phad Thai with rice and a vegetable dish and one cocktail and a diet coke worked out at about 700 thai bhat (which is about £16.00). I know the cocktails were very reasonable at between 99 - 200 bhat.

We did eat at the hotel one night as it was raining and they were extremely busy and we had to queue for a table. We found the staff to be very attentive even though they were rushed off their feet and the food, although more expensive than outside, to be very good. Bear in mind that Thai food is very cheap, Western food very expensive. There are two restaurants for meals - Prime Pool and Prime Beach. Both very nice.

The hotel has a mini mart where you can buy all kinds of food and drink. However, as you can imagine it is more expensive than say the 7/11 down the road. For example a coke in the hotel shop was 30/35 thai bhat and down the road 14 thai bhat. A tonic water 50 thai bhat and outside 14 thai bhat. So you can see how it's worth going outside for a bulk shop !!

Best part of holiday - lazing by the pool and eating out each night at a different restaurant.
Worse part - not getting the room we had paid for - but through another trip advisor member I had been made aware of this.

The hotel could be made so much better in very subtle ways. It is not a cheap hotel by Thai standards - £1729.00 is what I paid for two weeks with breakfast with Expedia.

Used the hotels mini bus service for collection and return to the airport. Again, more expensive than a usual taxi but I felt it was worth it as not worth the hassle of dodgy taxi drivers when you first land !!

Very comfortable huge bed with mattress topper. Complimentary slippers and bathrobes. I did find it strange that evidently they wash the slippers and use them for the next guest. Most hotels who supply slippers allow you to take them with you - obviously not the bathrobe - but they re-use the slippers.

Be aware that there is a 100 bhat tax levied per person when you arrive at Phuket airport. Seemed a little dodgy as we all had to push a 100 bhat note inside our passport and then the ones who did it the quicket were pushed to the front. How on earth the families managed with toddlers and babies in the scrum that was going on.

Quiet location perfect for relaxing - like another reviewer said - don't go there is you want noisy bars, hassle and nightlife - go to Phuket (I would think).

Lots of different nationalities who all got on very nicely from what I could see. I joined in with a lovely group of Swedish people who had Rheumatoid Arthritus and they had their own physio with them and we did Water Aerobics every day. Thanks to them for letting me join in.

There are numerous massage places all around by the beach and in the town. The hotel also has one in the gardens and they all seem to have a set price of 300 bhat. I used the hotel massage and it was very good. They also do manicures and pedicures.

Would I choose to go back to this hotel - yes but would make it quite clear by email to them what I would be expecting for the money I paid.

Room Tip: Make sure you get the room you have paid for. Grand Deluxe Pool View Room means just that. The gro...

We were two weeks in Sunprime Kamala beach hotel. The location is very good. Service is good and friendly, breakfast is good, varied selection of breads. Hotels old side begins to yearn for renovation, especially old swimming pools and chairs no longer correspond to 4-star standard. But the old side rooms have sea views and our room was clean and cozy (on 3rd floor). The swimming pools are good at the new side. However we wondered, why there were no toilets at the new swimming pool area. The nearest toilets can be found in the new lobby building and behind The Prime kitchen by the pool- restaurant. Perhaps this is why the pool water began to look dirty...

Kamala beach is quiet, but there is enough restaurants. Patong-beach is quite near, and the hotel's shuttle service was cheap and easy to use. Hotels massage service was priced as well as other beach masseurs and it was very nice.

We enjoyed a lot of our holiday on Kamala Beach :)

We read mixed reviews for this place before booking but after staying I can't honestly understand why a nice stay couldn't be had. My husband and I stayed here with another couple and found the staff extremely friendly and jovial, the rooms were well appointed, food good and the location fantastic. We loved that you could just step out of the resort straight on to the beach and that it was not overcrowded. I would stay again.

My husband and I stayed for a week at Kamala Beach Resort in February 2013 at the end of a fortnight's tour of Thailand. We were in the adults only hotel with the family hotel just nextdoor. We were staying on an all-inclusive basis and were allowed to use all the facilities of the adjacent hotel as well as our own. Our room was large and extremely comfortable with a very nice bed, lovely cotton bedding and large, good quality towels. Beach towels were huge and could be exchanged daily at the pool if required. Our room had a large balcony overlooking the pool. There were two large pools as well as all the pools nextdoor so they never got crowded and you could have a really good swim. One of the pools had a swim-up bar. There was never a shortage of loungers. The restaurants were a mix of a a carte and buffet and all the food could not be faulted. The asian banquet night had to be seen to be believed with the most amazing seafood on offer and local dancers as entertainment. In the a la carte restaurant the staff did everything they could to ensure you enjoyed the food, asking whether you anted it spicy or less spicy and with or without sauces. We really enjoyed the local fruit which was always available at mealtimes. Breakfast was a buffet with a bewildering array of choices.
When we initially arrived, we thought the beach looked horrendously crowded with loungers and people as it is a public beach and loungers have to be hired. However, you only have to walk a short distance from the hotel to find a quiet spot as the beach is quite extensive and if we turned right along the beach, we could go snorkeling from the beach amingst the rocks.
The hotel is within easy walking distance from the village which has ample shopping and banking opportunities and there are a school and a temple which both welcome visitors, so you can absorb some local culture. The only disappointment we had was that the shuttle bus was not included as at our previous hotels in Thailand, shuttle buses were free. On the shuttle bus, you can travel to Patong if you want to see some nightlife or just to have a change of scene.
Wi fi was included and you could use the computers in reception for a small charge if you had not brought any wifi appliances. We had a lovely relaxing break here and we were sorry to leave.

Room Tip: Higher floors have the better views and rooms overlooking the pool are spacious and comfortable
