“Best Burger Ever”
Reviewed January 17, 2011

I had the best burger at Rockfish.
When in Phuket - do yourself a favour and go to Rockfish, Kamala and try an Australian Beef Burger with cheddar cheese.

“Best to visit during happy hours ( 4 - 7 )”
Reviewed December 19, 2010

We called in twice during happy hours when the place was really quiet and the cocktails were on a special. Even though there were only a total of 4 people there service was very slow at times and there was some confusion over what the correct price should be. On our second visit we went to sit in the lower section of the bar again but were told that we had to sit upstairs even though the place was completely empty and there were no reserved signs on any of the tables. The staff treated us as something of an inconvenience rather than an opportunity to demonstrate some outstanding customer service.

I can't comment on the food as we didn't sample any but the prices seemed very high. The cocktails were pretty good ( we sampled all of them ) and the view along the beach is very nice. We would return but only during happy hour and not for the overpriced food.

“I wish I could love this place...”
Reviewed November 18, 2010

My husband and I went to Rockfish at the advice of another trip advisoree who claimed it compared to one of the top restaurants in the world. I must respectfully disagree. While the atmosphere and service are lovely, the pairings at Rockfish are disjoined at best and bizarre in some cases - some of these things just don't go together. If the prices were about half of what they are and we hadn't gone in expecting some sort of culinary wunderkind, I think we wouldn't have been so disappointed. At $100 for the two of us (without drinks), the meal should have knocked our socks off.

If you're looking for somewhere with a nice setting, good service, and tasty food, we'd recommend Taste over Rockfish. Rockfish can definitely be skipped.

“OK food”
Reviewed August 21, 2010

Had the 3 course set dinner at 800bht. Unfortunately, felt slightly disappointed by quality of cooking. Entree of prawn wonton was avaerage to say the least, acutally cantonese style steamed 'Siew Mai' not wontons at all and pairing with apple compote doesn't work. Mains of fish is alright slightly bland. Chocolate brownie with ice cream is just like home made. Service is alright, not personal and not consistant. Some table gets water others dont? Location is nice though, directly on teh beach over a rocky bay. I was dining at 'Plum' restaurant just a few metres up the road at Cape Sienna resort and villas, where it costs the same but light years ahead in terms of cooking quality, service and ambience.

“You'll get better value elswhere”
Reviewed April 11, 2010

We decided one night to try a nice restaurant as we normally like the local beachside stalls where the locals offer authentic, cheap and cheery food.
We found this restaurant overpriced and the menu very limited and tasteless.
A bowl of spaghetti marinara with chewy calamari and the sauce which tasted like it was straight out of a bottle, and a bowl of massaman curry which had no spices or flavour was very disappointing.
The blackboard advertised happy hour prices for wine and beer, which were still over priced even so. The bill did not reflect the happy hour prices and the staff were initially attentive, but lacked motivation and appreared dis interested.
Had the food been tasty and the overall experience been pleasant, then we would have been more than happy to pay for it.
After that we went back to our local dining experiences which were all great.
