“Excellent!!”
Reviewed June 2, 2010

i and my friends stayed in Villa#4 during 9-11 May 2010. All i need to say is Excellent! The villa has excellent views, 4 bedrooms are nice and clean , big swimming pool and big living area. We also cooked and had dinner with sunset view right in front of the villa! Moreovere, the villa's butler , K'Pae, is very nice and full of service-mind. We recommend this place to many couples, friends, family and plan to come back again next year ...

1) Great Hotel, with a wonderful view
2) Helpful staff at the counter, and efficient room service
3) Great meal at the restaurant, all the dishes for dinner were fantastic
4) External Jacuzzi, beside the swimming pool, facing the sea (great view); downside is, when you turn to look at the bar counter from the jacuzzi, u see rags and umbrella covers. This is unpleasant and makes the whole place look dirty. The hotel must have a storage area for such things, rather than leaving them out in the open
4) ANTS, Ants ANTS everywhere. In the restaruant when having breakfast, there were ants in the Milk (for the coffee), If you sit at the table for a while, u will see Ants running every where
5) Ants , Ants and Ants - > everywhre in the room, balcony, dressing table.....you leave a cup of champagne of the table for a while, next thing you know the ants are in it.
6) The balcony ,"retains" water whenever it rains...even after hours the water is there, and you can see the tiles stained due to this. Y? Was not the balcony supposed to sloped slightly so that the water drains away?
7) When sitting at the balcony you look at the ceiling near the end of the balcony above, you see stains caused by water, and "stalactite" like formations on the ceiling. Why?
8) The Balcony railings, are rusted and it is obvious. For a new hotel, this is not something expected
9) The room my brother stayed in, the Jacuzzi was not working! Why was this not checked on a daily basis by the Housekeeping? When in the mood, and when we were about to use the jacuzzi, it did not work. Why? It took nearly an hour to repair,; and by that time the mood was gone. What is the point of having a jacuzzi room, when the jacuzzi does not work?
10) When we wanted to get our own taxi to the hotel, the bellhop or the staff at the entrance mentioned that it is not possible and that we need to get the taxis which they will arrange....and at a very high rate (double). Is there a mafia running the taxis, with the hotel staff involved?
11) I would ONLY recommend this hotel to others if the above mentioned are rectified

A friend and I stayed for 10 days at Cape Sienna and thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

Cape Sienna is in a peaceful setting, just a few minutes walk away from Kamala Beach. We found that we can easily just chillout at the Sienna for days - relaxing at the pool, sipping cocktails, swimming laps in the 20 m pool, making use of the spa and gym as well as taking in the breathtaking views!

The hotel itself is new and everything trendy and modern yet simplistic. The rooms are very comfortable and delighted us with even a DVD-player (other than the free wireless) We booked a package deal and was good value - including a very good breakfast buffet and a variety of delicious dinners to indulge in - from traditional Thai cooking to European fusion fine dining.. Most of the guests are in the age group of 25 to 45 and no children are allowed, which makes a very relaxed space.

The only thing about the package deal is that we werent very well informed what all the included tours etc. entailed. Cape Sienna should in the future provide some brochures on the tours that is included in the package.

I would say that Cape Sienna is ideal for those who doesnt like the main stream resort / timeshare crowd and appreciate some calm and tranquility from the crowds as well as a trendy modern vibe., but still want to be close to everything that Phuket offers. Everything, including party town Patong is either a bike ride or tuk tuk away. Bikes and cars can easily be rented from the frontstep of the hotel and no prebookings are required.

Cape Sienna provided us with a great stay, and i would definitely return to Cape Sienna on my next visit to Phuket.

We had a wonderful 10 days at Cape Sienna, where the views are second to none and the staff could not do enough to make sure we were comfortable. We had a room on the top floor and enjoyed the peace and quiet. We used all the resort facilities and relaxed at the massarge Spa which was of an excellent standard even if it was a little pricey, a late night drink at Vanilla Sky was always enjoyable and the Plum restaurant was excellent. I was impressed with the attention to detail when a waiter unprompted offered me a pashmina as I was finding the air conditioning a little cool.

The breakfasts were enjoyable although uniform and we noticed a lack of supervision of staff the first few days but that soon changed and the staff who are anything but pushy started offering that much appreciated second cup of coffee. We enjoyed lounging next to the swimming pool and enjoyed poolside menu of light meals, we are usually wine drinkers but we are now fans of the Singapore sling cocktail. Sitting in the Jacuzzi watching the magnificent sunset was an amazing experience not to be missed.

We are not beach people but we often walked down to the quaint village of Kammala (8 minute walk) to enjoy the local cuisine and quite fell in love with people the shops and the whole Kammala experience. It was unfortunate to discover the local town’s people would not deliver our purchases to the hotel as they had been intimidated by the taxi drivers.

What a shame that there has to be a down side to this magnific holiday and as mentioned in several other reviews the Mafia style taxi service is our only complaint. On our first day we asked for a taxi to take us to Kammala and show us around – we had no idea of costs at this stage and we agreed to pay 500Baht which we realised by that evening was outrageous for a 12 minute drive. As we were there for 10 days it is a shame this drivers whose name we will not mention took advantage of us, as from then on we made alternative arrangements. The sooner the hotel introduces a courtesy mini bus return service to Patong on a daily basis the better. We would have been quite happy to pay a reasonable amount to use a hotel run service.

A big thank you to the staff for a wonderful holiday

We were very happy with this hotel. It is built to take best advantage of the stunning views of the sea and sunset. The rooms were clean and very modern. We had quite a few ants in the room but the staff were very helpful in dealing with the issues we had. We ordered room service multiple times over the 4 nights we stayed and we were always happy with it. The view from the balcony was lovely and the jacuzzi was private enough while also taking advantage of the view. Each evening we sat on the balcony and ate icecream while watching the sun set, except for one evening where we ate at Plum, the hotel restaurant. The food was delicious and while not the best we have ever tasted, the atmosphere and scenery made it the best dining experience we have ever had. All in all it was a wonderful stay.

This is our 2nd stay in Cape Sienna, first was last year, after they just opened. Now that all is finished, the resort became a real gem.
I am writing from the resort, laying on a sunbed around the pool and enjoying a cool drink with those great views...
Really puzzled by the number of negative comments lately. Can't praise the hotel enough, great food, superb views and nice staff (I am Thai, so can't comment on their English, but they seemed friendly to everybody).
I think it is all about how guests approach the staff as well, but hey don't want to judge.
We are staying in a Jacuzzi Deluxe Room (4308) and love it...well, yes the jacuzzi take a bit long to fill, but we can live with this.
Read a few comments about the taxis...and to some extend they are justified, but being Thai and having used a number of hotels in Phuket on previous stays, I can only say, that this is a island wide problem,
Last year the spa was not opened yet, so we tried it and absolutely loved it.
Our favourite place on Phuket is the Vanilla Sky bar, just perfect to chill out.
In all fairness the offer really good rates right now, so i think it is great value for money and I can live with the breakfast not being as huge as a hotel were I pay double the price.
Will surely come back...my favourite hotel in Phuket, and I have tried a good number.

For a hotel which is ranked no.1 by tripadvisor for the area, it is a real disappointment.

The hotel staff was far from helpful. The room had a leak from upstairs and water was pouring down over our balcony. Having contacted the hotel staff, they were not bothered and did not even attempt to inspect the issue.

The local taxis around the area is ran by the mafia hence taxis from town were unable to pick us up from the hotel and the prices are an extortion. Also, on particular occasion, the local taxi sped past a police inspection point and refused to drop us at our requested location as it would mean going by the police checkpoint again!

Hotel limos are available as an alternative but they are very very pricey.

Other minor drawbacks include:
-The beach is also a fair distant away from the hotel and not very pleasant.
-Breakfast is horrible. The juices are from concentrates and not even chilled! The menu is also pretty similar every day.

All in all, the hotel is a sheer disappointment.

The disappointment is certainly on our side...
Facts are:
1) The guest contacted the reception about water coming down on their balcony from above. Our staff informed Housekeeping and Engineer who checked immediately and found out that the above room had forgotten to close the water tap of their outdoor Jacuzzi, therefor water was overflowing and pouring down to the balcony of the room below. Housekeeping staff cleared and cleaned the balcony of the guest. As guest was not in the room reception did not inform him that all was cleared and done, but he could have seen that easily as no more water coming down and the balcony was cleaned.
2) The taxis: I would like to state in general that the taxis in front of the hotel have nothing to do with the hotel. Prices indeed are slightly higher than the tuk tuks found near the beach, but also their cars are of better quality. There is one main rule in the Phuket which the taxis by themselves have established (we do not have any control over this), that they follow a zoning rule. A taxi from another zone can send guests, but can not pick them up. (Example: A guests goes to Patong, takes a taxi back to Kamala - no problem. But should he ask that same taxi to pick him up the next day from the hotel - the taxis in the Kamala zone will not permit that.) Again, most of the taxis understand and 'comply' with this rule, but some always will try. Of course than the guest who is not picked up will get upset with the hotel, rather than with the taxi who tried to bend this rule. We often help by sending the guest to the airport by ourselves or organize alternate transportation. As stated, this is a rule which is in place all over Phuket. However it might be more visible to guests in our resort, as our entrance and the main street where the taxis are stationed are very near.
3) Beach being a fair distant. Well, 400 meters, you are the judge.
4) Breakfast horrible. Without going into detail, we provide a full buffet breakfast spread to an international level.

What I would like to say is that obviously us winning those rewards has its very good sides and we are very proud of, but also increases expectations (to maybe sometimes an unrealistic level) and guests might forget that there is always one fact to be considered: the Value for money factor. I am convinced that for the prices we charge we offer excellent value for money, but we are not the Banyan Tree, nor the Andara, nor do we pretend to be. We are also not in their price category by far.

For any reader who is uncertain or wishes to contact us directly, I will be more than pleased to answer any request directly by myself. frank@capesienna.com

On the other side, I would like to thank all the guests who have written so many great reviews of our hotel with their experiences and memories. You are our motivation!
