We stayed at Kamala Beach Estate with a bunch of family and friends for our wedding at nearby Cape Sienna. There are a selection of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom units/villas. We had a 3 br Andaman view villa and it was stunning - sweeping views over Kamala beach and out to the horizon. The balcony was huge, great kitchen and the rooms were all decent sized with their own bathroom. The bedrooms were all air-con but the air-con wasn't working in the living area - it wasn't too bad though because there was good air-flow most of the time. Friends who were in 1 and 2 br units also really enjoyed their places. Definitely worth paying the extra for a unit or villa with beach views! The staff were also very helpful. Would definitely come back!

Room Tip: Worth paying for Andaman views over garden views

After some extensive research for accomodation in Phuket, our family decided upon Kamala Beach Estate. The fact that their villas had separate bedrooms/bathrooms was a plus for us as we were travelling with our two sons (21 & 16). All of us could have some privacy.
We had booked the two bedroom/two bathroom Garden Villa but upon arrival found that we had been placed in a three bedroom/three bathroom villa facing the Adaman Sea at no extra charge. An absolute bonus as the view was stunning!
I have to say that after reading some of the more non flattering reviews on Kamala Beach Estate, we were not entirely sure what we would end up with. We really could not fault the place. We loved our Villa!! There was a view from every room in the house (apart from the bathrooms). The pool and gardens were gorgeous, staff very helpful when help was required. It was quiet, private and well within walking distance to restaurants and the beach. I am not sure how anyone could comment that it takes 20 to 30 mins to walk to the main area.........................we walked along the road to the main area with our 8 month old daughter in a stroller and had no problem with traffic and it took us approximately 10 mins to get to the main beach! There is also a 7/11 at the end of the road (5 mins) which came in handy for stocking up on groceries for breakfast etc. The kitchen was definately an added bonus, especially travelling with our young daughter. Kettle, microwave, fridge freezer, toaster........all provided.
The Villa was kept very cleanand tidy daily with a HUGE amount of fresh water provided. There was a slight musty smell in the downstairs bedroom. However this was solved when we opened the window during the day; Simple! Our Villa was not decked out in "modern" decor, however it was still lovely and comfortable and had an Asian feel to it which was great as we were in Asia after all.
We stayed for four nights and wish we could have stayed longer! The nightview from our massive "balcony" was awesome. It was also lovely to sit around the pool at night time and admire the garden/pool and it's lights. We have no hesitation in recommending this Estate to anyone travelling to this area of Phuket. If we ever travelled to this area again, we wouldn't even bother looking for alternative accommodation; we would just book with Kamala Beach Estate. Thank you for a fantastic stay. It really was one of the highlights of our holiday.

A small resort of privately owned villas perched on the picturesque cliffs of Kamala Bay. Ours was a one bdrm appartment overlooking the Amdaman Sea - just beautiful! Our other accom for the family was a 3 bdrm villa with a huge balcony that we watched the fireworks from in the Bay on New Years - amazing! All villas and appartments have fully equipped kitchens, daily housekeeping and room service from the inhouse restaurant RockFish. Very nice food and very popular with tourists so sometimes it took over an hour to get food delivered to the villa. Lovely main pool area with a second smaller pool and jacuzzi located near the beach end of the resort. Comfy beds and good airconditioning but wouldn't trust the inroom safe as it wasn't secured! Plenty of local bars, shops and seven elevens to buy water etc. We did our main shopping in Patong which was a 15min taxi ride at approx 10000BHT or A$30.00. Lots for the family to do during the day - swimming, jetskiing and parasailing and night markets and entertainment in the Bay at night. A good, safe place to take the family.

We staid for many years at kamala beach estate (KBE) in various units.
We wont stay again. This is a charming property where owners rent their units (or use it). It does not provide the usual amenities/facilities of a luxury hotel, just a couple of small pools. The units are aging, many of them with older furniture and fixtures. Plumbing and air conditioning are old and noisy (when they work). Windows are old and let noise through. There have been so many new hotels, villas and apartments built in Phuket offering very modern, high-class rooms that KBE now offer 3* accommodation compared to those 5* lodging. Three years ago, KBE was surrounded by forest mountain, it is now surrounded by pure concrete (apartments). KBE's main attraction is the proprietaire feel and the great views from the (expensive) units fronting the ocean. However, all the new hill-side buildings opened in the past couple of years also have great views. Although KBE is ocean front, it is a bit remote. One needs 20-30 min walk along the now-busy road to reach the nearest beach, more for the beach restaurant which are on the other side of the bay. And the walk has become risky with traffic, especially at night. So a car is needed.

If the price was right, KBE would still be good value for money. But they have raised their prices significantly so that you can find better quality and better value elsewhere.

My wife, 18 month old daughter and I stayed here in early August 2010. We were initially disappointed by the standard of our 2 bedroom garden view apartment. Whilst the apartment was very clean and well equipped, we were disappointed by the decor and the style of the kitchen and bathroom which were quite old and in good need of updating. The apartment was rather dated and some minor issues arose, such as some power points not working, the ludicrous plug/drain arrangement in the kitchen sink (it never worked properly and we were unable to fill the kitchen sink as the water drained away!) Also some knobs were loose/broken to some of the furniture.

The kitchen was functional (except for the above mentioned sink) and was well equipped. The bathroom was very basic, hence you will notice that there are no photos of the garden view apartment bathrooms on the website. The shower head was over the bath, rather than being a separate unit. The shower head was also loose and appeared to be very old.

The reason I am making people aware of these things is that the photos of the garden view apartments were slightly misleading and the photos appear to show the apartments to be better furnished than what they really are. However, to be fair to the resort, I did look inside the andaman view apartments and they appear to be of a higher standard. We stayed in room N5L. I would suggest asking for a different room if you are thinking about staying in a 2 bedroom garden view apartment.

To the owners of the resort, I would suggest that the garden view apartments need to be upgraded, particularly the kitchen and bathroom.

The resort grounds and pools etc were immaculate and were an absolute pleasure to spend time in. The presentation of the resort was excellent and there appeared to be a small army of people constantly maintaining the grounds. The staff were also very polite and efficient. The house maids did an outstanding job of cleaning and servicing our apartment on a daily basis. The staff were also very helpful in arranging taxis, hire car and a cot for our daughter.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Kamala Beach Estates, however as mentioned before, the garden view apartments need renovating/updating. Given this, we would only return to this resort if the garden view apartments were updated . We feel that the extra fee to stay in an Andaman View apartment is not worth the extra money as there is quite a difference in price.

Dear sir,

Thank you for your helpful comment, few units have not been renovated including N5L. I sincerely apologize that our room didn't meet your requirement. However, it is in our plan to remodel the unit to meet the standard of the resort in the near future.

Again, thank you for your comment and look forward to welcome you again.

Having visited Kamala Breach Estate on many occations, some of the accomodation is getting decidedly tired and worn. Having just returned, the villa we rented was very poorly equipped, especially the kitchen. No facilities for coffee making, and when we asked for a cafetiere, we got one that made ONE cup. We were 6 persons in the house.
We were advised by the estate to lock all valuables in the safe, and there were one in each bedroom, except the safes were locked by the owners and could not be opened. However, the very obliging estate managers brought in a MOBILE safe!!
The staff are charming, the estate very well maintained. Pool and towel service excellent and the car park and security staff are all first class.

Dear Mrs.Nee,

First of all thank you for your kind comments, during your visit there was only small coffee plunger available at the shop I purchased. We will provide a bigger one for your next visit in this upcoming December.

However, thank you for selecting to stay with us again.

We are all looking forward to welcome you soon.
