This fortification was built in 1874 to defend against Japanese invasions. Today, it offers an interesting stroll around the batteries and courtyard parade grounds, with lovely views from the walls to the river and adjacent park, which is typically full of locals going for a jog or taking an evening walk in the shade of the trees.

Won't recommend this, until you've already seen other places in Tainan. Just a small area surrounded with walls and several cannons inside.

Actually not much things to see right there. But it’s good to bring kids to walk around to spend a day.

Another great historical landmark. Worth a visit. Nice to sit and relax when the weather's good. There are boats that you could ride as well.

For those coming out to the former treaty port of Anping for a day of historical sightseeing, make sure you don't miss this well-preserved fort. It is a couple of kilometres away from the other main sights, which makes for a long return walk for those without their own transportation, but this is partly what makes this fortress so appealing. You will have a more tranquil and solitary experience at this site.

The historical remains consist of earthworks, portions of original stonework and surrounding moats. There is also an impressive array of cannons and anti-artillery guns to peruse. But perhaps best of all are the views of the mangroves where graceful white water-birds can be seen fishing in the shallows.
