It's on the tour bus route... It was alright.
50 NT to get in and look around. It's pretty inside but there really isn't much to look at. We saw a group of men dressed in period clothing doing a cannon firing. Wasn't bad

A well maintained historic spot.
Being the first western style fort in Taiwan, the Eternal Golden Castle was built to resist the Japanese troops who invaded Taiwan in 1874. It was a progress toward modernization of Taiwanese coastguard military defense.
To me, it is much better than the An-ping Fort (a fake historic architectural built during the period of Japanese occupation) and the Chih-kan Tower (reconstructed historic spot, it has not been the original Fort Provintia)
Though not a place of fun, It is a good place of historic interest, nostalgia,…… and meditation.

On the tourist path, its a place to see an old fort. Don't expect any gold. Its best to walk around this area and see the local culture. There is a battleship nearby that you can check out.

There is not much to see here and honestly kind of boring. It is maintained well though. To be honest, most tourist attractions in Taiwan will bore foreign visitors. Especially ones that have traveled throughout Asia.
Not a good place for disabled travelers. Or children in strollers.

Landmarks of Tainan. Worth a visit and pictures. The Firing ceremony in the afternoon is interesting. Outside the walls is one of the most famous special restaurants in Tainan.(Wu-Jiao Chuan Ban,means 5 penny restaurant.). Watch out the battleship just beside the seashore, which is a now a marine museum.

It is out of he way and offers nothing special. Hard to get a taxi from there after. We regretted walking all the way there from Anping.
