The road to Cape Town from Gauteng is long and tedious. One does it to get there. You pack, you leave, you listen to audio books, you wish the kilos away. Hungry, is there better than s Wimpy to gave lunch? What does TripAdvisor advise? Die Plattelander! Believe it. Good advice. Tasty Lasagne, friendly service, air-conditioned (39*C outside). Fairly priced. Congratulations!

16th December 2015, three of us walked over from our guest house, choosing Die Plattelander on strength of three recommendations from other people in town. Ambience was lovely, we ate outside. The waiters put a lolly stick with their name on to remind you and they give good friendly service. The owner came out to greet! How nice.
I recommend them anytime.
HOWEVER, BUT!! They miss out on the most valuable asset they have!!! This building is drenched in rich cultural history with the most amazing story of a state-of-the-art printing machine. Yes, there is a brief history in the menu- Kudos guys, but you need to share this orally. The restaurant was built as a Methodist church in 1863, then in 1960 Die Plattelander newspaper moved in and printed the weekly newspaper for the community. The press was very advanced for such a small town, and must have been a huge commitment to bring such a printing press to a small community, so must have been for for far more. please increase your knowledge.

Service friendly and efficient. Good homestyle cooking. Karoo lamb the best.
Will come back next time in Colesberg.

On our way to Cape Town we stoped over in Colesberg. If you are tired of junk food, We recomend the Plattelander. Great meals are served in record time. Service is always friendly.
