“Comfortable and welcoming B&B in a stunning location”
Reviewed April 6, 2014

This is a B&B where the charm of the host is its crowning glory (Chuck was away when we stayed, so Emma was our sole host). Glebe House is lovely: spacious and comfortable and with glorious views of the surrounding Devon countryside. Our room was spotlessly clean and warm and the selection of teas and coffee on our hospitality tray most impressive; and we really appreciated the tiny fridge with fresh milk. Shower room was equally spotless and we loved the power shower. On our first evening, having arrived fairly late, Emma welcomed us with the offer of a glass of wine but we opted for tea and biscuits. We'd asked for dinner that evening and were served with three delicious courses. The following morning's breakfast was so good in both quality and quantity we didn't need to eat anything else for the whole of the day. We had a full English and would particularly recommend the black pudding. Emma's home made preserves would be hard to beat too.

When we find a good B&B - and Glebe House is well up there with the best - we always say we hope to return but for various reasons this rarely happens. We really, really hope to do it this time.

I knew that this past of Devon was extremely beautiful, but Glebe House wraps it all up for you to provide a fabulous location with simply outstanding views across the farmland and a small hamlet.
We stayed for 2 nights. Emma provided us with an excellent Devonshire tea with a variety of cakes and scones.
Relaxed for a couple of hours and then came dinner! This commenced with a huge array of home made canapes which were a meal in itself and this was followed by a superb three course dinner which far surpassed that served in most restaurants.
A good night's sleep to awaken to the sight of cows crossing the field to go for feeding below our bedroom window and then it was time for a simply wonderful breakfast.
Returning to the house that evening, the culinary experience was repeated.
Emma is a superb hostess and Glebe House is a real gem. We shall certainly return next spring.

This was a return stay. Our experience last year had been so positive. Emma and Chuck are excellent hosts, sharing their home so generously. We felt relaxed and at home. Murphy the Cocker Spaniel thinks its swell. So do we. We look forward to future stays.

Our family were going to a Birthday weekend close by and so we booked into the Glebe House as it was very close to where we wanted to be. From the moment we arrived at this amazing location to the moment we left it was pure heaven! The house is situated on top of a hill with the most spectacular views I have ever seen. We were met by the charming Chuck, who carried our suitcases in from the car and ushered us up to the sitting room upstairs, where we were given the most delicious home made tea, all prepared and baked by Chuck's wonderful wife Emma. As usual all of us were on diets, but Emma's tea was too good to resist and we all tucked in. That evening by prior arrangement, we had drinks, home made canapes and the most delicious dinner, all of course cooked by Emma and served by Chuck, such great service, but done in the most relaxed fashion. This was a wonderful start to the weekend. The rooms are comfortable, spotless and our rooms were cleaned each morning whilst we were having breakfast, of course delicious and made again by Sally. We were away on Saturday all day for our birthday party, but on Sunday after another delicious breakfast, had the day free to explore the surroundings. Chuck and Ema, set us off on the most glorious walk, showed us where all the good pubs were and we spent the most glorious day exploring before coming home to yet another delicious tea, before driving back to London. Not only was this a great place to spend the weekend, but our host and hostess could not have been more charming and the food utterly delicious. All home made! Lunches and Dinners are by prior arrangement utterly delicious and at a quarter of London prices are a must. Accommodation is very comfortable, rather than luxurious, with views that will remain with you for ever.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the house have the most wonderful view.

We have just returned from the best short break ever! It was an opportunity for our family to meet up with old friends living in this lovely area, and Chuck and Emma were excellent hosts.
The breakfasts were a delicious start to our days-fresh fruit, stewed rhubarb from the garden, followed by the full cooked choice. On our last evening we had pre-booked an evening meal, which was cooked and presented to perfection.
Everyone wants to return a.s.a.p!
Many thanks Chuck and Emma, your hard work and hospitality were really appreciated and ensured a guest house stay which would truly be hard to beat.
