We went for one night with dinner to the Stolpe place. The hotel is very beatiful. The standard room could be a bit more comfortable but was quite ok. The garden is amazing. Great place to hang out. Wonderful terrace for breakfast. The restaurant is OUTSTANDING. The food was amazing and the price very resonable. We booked a package including hotel, dinner and breakfast which was a good deal. Very nice place for a weekend retreat with amazing food.

Our stay at Relais & Chateaux Hotel Gutshaus Stolpe was from December 23 - 26, 2008. We booked a christmas package in a suite for us three directly at the hotel (rate was 530,-- Euro/night, half board, tea time and taxes included).

Gutshaus Stolpe is an intimate hotel with nice surroundings. We arrived by car and used the spacious parking area on the hotel ground. The receptionist was very friendly and guided us to our room 66 ("Fritz Reuter-Suite") . A luggage transfer was not offered, we handled the luggage on our own.

The suite was very comfortable: a large living/dining room, kitchen and guest restroom on the ground floor, two bed- and bathrooms on the first floor. An illuminated Christmas tree was installed complimentary. Sweets and two bottles of water were also offered for free and replaced daily (a minibar wasn't available). Three flat screen TV sets were in the rooms, a dvd-player did cost 10,-- Euro/day. Turn down was done the first evening, only (and not very efficient: the curtains weren't close in one bedroom and the towels not changed in the bathroom).

Breakfast was offered a la carte until 11.00 o'clock. Hot egg dishes were served as requested (but an egg benedict wasn't available), fresh juices, sparkling wine and a selection of cereals, bread, cheese and cold meet were also presented and of good quality.

The public rooms were very comfortable and furnished in a traditional style. The fireplace at the entrance, the salon, the bar and the restaurant had a warm atmosphere and the staff was friendly and polite.

A highlight was the gourmet restaurant: Chef Andre Münch presents a michelin awarded cuisine which makes a stay at Gutshaus Stolpe nearly perfect. The service was very attentive, special wishes were noticed once and considered the whole stay (e.g. I don't like fish and got a separate menu card the second evening).

All in all a very pleasant stay, little faults like a served whiskey sour without ice in the bar or the missing turn down service were compensated through the friendliness of the staff and the intimate atmosphere with focus on guest's demands. We probably will return (maybe not in the summertime: there was no air conditioning in the room).

We stayed at the Gutshaus Stolpe for a minibreak with our two girls. It promises - and delivers - peace and quiet. The buildings have been beautifully restored and although pretty full you feel like you have the place to yourself. The host couple offer a very personal and dedicated service. You can choose between dining at the hotel or ar the nearby Ferry Inn by the Peene River which offers local, solid dishes with a very professional and warm service. With kids we chose to eat at the more informal Ferry Inn as the Gutshaus itself - with it's gourmet restaurant and quiet, classy clientele - might have proven too challenging for our energetic little girls.

After playing once at the tennis court the host immidiately saw to that a couple of loose lines etc. were fixed. We didn't even have to ask. There are free bikes and canoes ti use at your discretion adding to a home-like feeling.

The river is a delight to swim in.

We met none other than Germans at the hotel and it seems like the hotel mainly caters to national guests. However it is really worthwhile for other travellers to sink into the warm, rural comfort of Gutshaus Stolpe.

We would highly recommend this place for someone looking for true, peaceful, rejuvenating relaxation in stylish rural surroundings.
