The Forge is a West Wales institution which started life as a cafe in an old forge alongside the old A40. It was updated in around the 1970's and hasn't changed much since and which is in fact part of its charm nowadays. Which isn't to say also that the place is not absolutely spotless.

We have been eating in the resturant regularly on our way to and from Pembrokeshire for years. For fresh, well cooked, traditional fare this place is unbeatable. We especially recommend the chicken curry 'alf 'n 'alf (rice and chips), the home cooked ham, the deep fried cod and the old fashoned ice cream desserts (if you have room left). Some of the dishes like the half of roast duck or the mixed grill are for those with heroic appetites! The Forge also serves the best chips we have tasted anywhere - crisp and golden.

The place is staffed by charming local waitresses, most of whom are Welsh speaking.

This is one of our favourite places to eat.

Most amazing place mind you don't miss it first night a double room. Two king size beds so quiet and dark spent all night trying to find a speck of dirt. The room only has a shower but what a shower spotless hot and power fall. The first night we were too tired to eat in the restaurant so we walked to the garage and just got a snack. We did not intend staying a second night as we were touring the next night we could not find anywhere open that we wanted to stay at so we drove back to the forge. This time king size bed and bunk beds the restaurant is great rib of pork could only eat half we had the second half when we got back home so two meals for £11.00

Room Tip: Don't miss the one

The lodge has really good sized chalets, with work space, and comfortable beds. The bathroom has shower, but no bath. The shower is excellent. The staff are vrey friendly, and food is very well cooked. I would recommend this to any business traveller.

I regularly visit with friends to eat in the restaurant, and it is always a pleasure. Their duck and spring chicken are 1st rate dishes, and I sometimes splash out on a sirloin steak.
It is all done to order and freshly cooked; you can see the chef preparing meals behind the counter.

Usually have an ice-cream for pudding - big portions, and their peach melba is enormous!
Great welcome, nice staff, and luckily open till quite late (for Carmarthenshire).
I've been here dozens of times and have never been let down.
