“I've been in heaven!”
Reviewed July 12, 2012

Peace and quiet in absolute heaven! The barn is beautiful with a wonderful calm atmosphere. It's very tastefully furnished, a lot of the wood used is from their own trees! Look up in the main room, a beautiful carved owl is sitting on the beams looking down over you! Your every need has been thought about and catered for, particulary if you have children, lots of toys to play with, a safe outdoor play area and a little stream with a bridge to play pooh-sticks on! Jerry and Charlotte feel like old friends to us now, they are great hosts. If you want to get away and really enjoy country living this is the place for you. For trips out visit the Botanic Gardens, the steam train at Gwilli, the lovely beach a Pendine sands and shopping in Narbeth-what a place to shop! St. Clears is just down the road, you'll get all your everyday needs there and Camarthen will make you feel like you returned to civilisation for a while. Enjoy every moment you don't get many places like this to have a holiday! many thanks to Jerry and Charlotte.

And the Gwilli steam train too. I'm going to pop a photo of the barn on the beams onto the Trip Adviser page right now! If I remember how!! Hope to see you again soon.

Ok lets start with the important bit Charlotte is a dream and Jerry is magic, the Old Oak barn is just what you want to go to when you want to relax. have just spent 7 days in the first week of july having a great time the weather was not great but nowhere in the uk was. The location is ideal if you want the towns to shop in or the sea to swim or fish in. Waking up in the mornings to the birdsong and sound of the stream while sitting and having breakfast just makes you think you should stay for longer. As a disabled traveller i found that everything was ok and should mention the grap rail over the bath which is very important to us with balance issues. The swallows were so much entertainment for free
Place to go to are Narbeth but be prepared to spend money, Camarthen for easy shopping and the steam railway, Saundersfoot for the food and Pendine for the views.

Me a dream and Jerry magic!!!! Praise indeed but you and your family were wonderful visitors who made the most of every minute and it was such a pleasure meeting you! I'm glad you asked for some advice of where to go and what to do and I knew you would love Narberth shops even if it meant going a bit wild with the credit cards on some mementos of you holiday. It was fun taking you off road in the truck to see the woods and Jerry enjoyed the spin too. Glad to you were able to enjoy taking some wonderful pictures and thanks for emailing me some which will be used in the new improved website when it goes live later in the summer. Hope to see you again in the Autumn. On reflection you actually had a pretty dry week compared with this week! Summer of 2012 is turning into one not to be forgotten.

Really good place to stay, very good all round. The cottage is very clean and spacious, good TV and DVD player and also a selection of DVD’s books and toys for all the family. Parking for the car, woods for a walk and nice hosts who look after you. We feed Charlottes chickens and got some very fresh eggs in return. Also good BBQ facility with charcoal included. Really they have thought of everything. The cooker is ace and we cooked everything we needed.

In terms of the locality we did loads of good things: Pendine sands for rock pools, Laugharne castle, Pembroke castle, Tenby South Beath for Sand, Tenby North Beach and Docks for crab fishing, Saundersfoot, Folly Farm for Animals and Play, Blue Lagoon (a bit small! for the price).

The local produce in terms of meats is also very good and we bought loads. I would recommend the Market hall in Tenby for their custard slices!

We also dammed up the stream that goes past the cottage one evening!

Thank you so much for taking the trouble to post a review for us at Old Oak Barn. I know the weather was not that brilliant but you still found plenty to do! And you got a sun tan too!! Yes - Tenby Beaches North and South are amazing. As for the custard slices I shall look out for some myself. It's great you got to have a BBQ on the patio, damn up the little stream which luckily didn't flood in the torrential rain on Friday when you had just gone home and also to enjoy the woods. Thanks again to all the family. Charlotte :-)

We were blessed with glorious weather during our stay in the Old Oak Barn and the whole trip was just magical. The cottage is excellently equipped and provided lots of entertainment in the way of book, puzzles and DVDs for my 2 children aged 3 & 5. The walks in the woods were wonderful and the peace and quiet was so refreshing. The children especially loved the opportunity to fish in the stream (nets kindly provided!) and the visits to the chickens were real highlights. The lovely patio area provided ample space in the evening to sit back relax, have a barbecue and enjoy the beautiful Welsh countryside. I cannot fault the week we spent at the Old Oak Barn and plans are already afoot to return next year.

Thank you so much for your very positive review. We hope you got back to Ireland safe and sound. We are pleased you enjoyed yourselves so much while over here in Wales and are especially glad that you loved the peace and quiet as well as the beauty around. At this time of year the countryside is stunning. Just hope the birdsong didn't wake you all! Once again thank you for visiting and for posting a review and for uploading some great photos too. We do hope you will be back one day!

What is there not to say about our stay at Old Oak Barn!!! Thank goodness for random Google searches. As a single parent with two young active boys, I have to admit that holidays are rarely relaxing for me.........well, Old Oak Barn turned my usual scenario on its head! The converted barn is the perfect retreat. As soon as you step inside, an instant feeling of space is overwhelming, yet it successfully and thoughtfully retains a sense of cosiness you desire from a barn conversion. The truly delightful owners, Charlotte and Jerry, have thought of absolutely everything and are clearly in tune with the needs and wants for both families and couples alike. You can want for nothing, the Old Oak Barn is definitely a home away from home. Charlotte and Jerry were exceptionally welcoming and kind to my children, allowing them to embrace a little bit of their country life such as running with the sheep and collecting the eggs. The Old Oak Barn is perfectly located for exploring and discovering the surrounding areas and towns. As there is so much on the doorstep within approximately 30 minutes, the usual moans and groans predictably heard from my boys as they braced themselves for yet another boring car journey, all but disappeared! Pure bliss! Irrespective of the weather, we all loved exploring in the woods, playing on the swings, fishing in the stream and the general freedom to be had at The Old Oak Barn. As the week drew to a close, it was a little sad to be leaving; one week just didn't seem long enough. However, we are returning and have booked a week for when my mum comes to stay from Australia. A true gem of a find and I cannot recommend Old Oak Barn strongly enough.
