We booked our first holiday as a couple for 16 years, as our son was on a trip with school in Austria the same week.
The Hotel was spotlessly clean, friendly and had everything we needed.
The slopes were literally out of the back door of the Hotel. Ideal for learners, beginners, intermediates, but limited for expert ski-ers. The slopes were a lot shorter than we were used to in the USA, and they are numbered 1 - 15 - no names here. There is only 1 'mountain', the front slopes and the back slopes. We are intermediate, and 1 week was enough, any longer we would have been bored of the same runs. They only have Tbar and button lifts, so that gives you an indication of the compactness of the resort. There is one cafe at the bottom of the slopes and one near the top. As we were on a relaxing holiday it was perfect for us. we took our time, had plenty of 'hot chocolate' stops, and had fun. If you want to bomb down hills at speed all day long, then Iso-Syote may be a bit limited for you. But for a couple just having fun, it was fab.
The rep Katrina was excellent, and had us all on the slopes by 10.30 am the following morning, after arriving at about 9.30pm the previous night. Lift passes were handed out during the trip to the Hotel, and we caught the bus down to the village in the morning. She apologised for the resort being so busy, but as you can see from the photos - our busy and Finnish busy are totally different concepts. She also arranged a fab snow-shoe outing on the last day, as our pick-up was not until 6.00 pm that night.
The village only has a cafe, a ski shop and a small grocery, so take essentials, such as hand warmers, and emergency medical supplies - for sprained wrists, blisters etc., as you will not find them in the shop.
As mentioned the Hotel was spotless, the pool warmish, the food good, and even catered for my husbands gluten free diet. Drinks are pretty expensive - 35 Euros for a bottle of wine, 9 Euros for a glass of wine and a glass of coke. Breakfast consisted of porridge, cold meats and salad, sausage, scrambled eggs, juices, bread buns, tea and coffee. Dinner consisted of soup, two types of main course, and a pudding. All quite basic, but perfectly adequate. There is also an A la Carte menu - for an additional cost, which looked very good.
All in all a very relaxing, fun holiday, with no queues, no stress, and plenty of ski-ing.
Beware run 15, its a black - ungroomed, with trees, moguls, and half way down a very steep drop off. We got down, but it wasn't very elegant Lol
